G.L.I.D.E.
G.L.I.D.E stands for Garnet Williams Linedance Instructor Dance Exchange in Toronto, Canada. Monthly gatherings are held at Garnet Williams Community Centre dance room. Sharing of linedances, both old and new, is the primary goal of this group that was formed in Summer, 1999. Only international linedances that are from authorized reputable internet linedance website will be of interest to this group. The group promotes the teaching of linedances strictly based on original choreography, and do not endorse any modifications.

Nelson Wong provides the facility and everyone contributes their skills and linedance knowledge. Active members include Lewis Lee, Nelson Wong, Helina Koo, Julie Mak, David Pao, Mrs. Virginia Tsui, Elizabeth Ng, Peter Hui, George Hum and Anita Chick. The number of students taught by these line dance instructors constitutes a substantial number of linedancers in the Chinese Community of the Greater Toronto Area.

GLIDE organized very large linedance parties in 2001 with over 600 guests. In 2002, Elizabeth Ng, Peter Hui and other GLIDE members co-ordinate Linedance Fundraising events for Yee Hong Wellness Community Foundation. Scheduled events are:

March 24th, 2002 (Sunday afternoon) at Yee Hong Centre (McNicoll and Midland)
April 26th, 2002 (Evening) at L'Amoreaux Community Centre (2000 McNicoll Ave.)

Linedance instructors who would like to join the GLIDE group, please contact Nelson Wong at [email protected].
