Blue Rose Is (Pair/Couple)

Recommended music – Blue Rose by Pam Tillis
Starting Position: Side-by-side. Man stands on the left side of lady. Man’s right arm rests softly on the lady’s right shoulder and holds her right hand. Man’s left hand holds lady’s left hand and is in front. The couple should dance in the forward and counter-clockwise direction in a circular format.

Rocking Chair X 2
1-4    (Man and Lady side-by-side position) Cross rock right over left foot with knee bent, recover on left foot, rock back on right foot, recover on left foot.
5-8    Repeat 1-4
(Hand/arm movement: Count of 1 and 5, lower left shoulder with right knee bent while left arm pointing down at an angle. The body should be diagonal to the left)

Vine Right and Vine Left
1-4    (Man and Lady side-by-side position) RF side, LF behind, RF side, LF kick diagonal to the right
5-8    LF side, RF behind, LF side, RF kick diagonal to the left
(Variation for Style: Rolling vine – clockwise ½ turn  and counter-clockwise ½ turn)

Four Diagonal Forward Shuffles
1,2    Shuffle diagonal to the right R-L-R
3,4    Shuffle diagonal to the left L-R-L
5,6    Shuffle diagonal to the right R-L-R
7,8    Shuffle diagonal to the left L-R-L

¼ Turn Left, Vine Right and Vine Left
Changing Position: Man moving to the front of lady while turning ¼ left and both should be facing the inner circle.
1.    Man raises right arm over lady’s head and releases left hand so to move to the front
2.    Lady’s left hand catches man’s left hand. Vine position: Man in front of lady and man’s both arms are behind and holding on to lady’s corresponding hands. R to R hand and L to L hand.
1-4 Vine right and kick or scuff LF diagonal to the right
5-8 Vine left and kick or scuff RF diagonal to the left

Paddle Turn Left for 6 Counts (I strongly recommend to do 8 counts paddle turn to match with any music. Doing a 6-count paddle turn will get you out-of-sync with the music for the entire dance and is not good)
1-6 Paddle turn left ¾, and it should go back to the line of dance in CCW direction.
1. Man raises left arm over lady’s head.
2. Man releases right hand while turning. Lady’s right hand catches man’s right hand and is now over lady’s right shoulder.
3-6 Both keep turning/paddling left to the original position in the line of dance.
Start over again!
