The Nellis history has been appreciated by both Nellis descendants resident in the Mohawk Valley as well as descendants and historians from outside the immediate area. There are accounts of an annual Nellis Family Reunion in this area from as early as 1923, showing both the continued interest and the perseverance of descendants from far and near in pursuing historical accounts of these families. Some Historians have spent years seeking out hard to find facts of the Nellis History and placing them appropriately in the proper line and generation of the Nellis family tree.
Officers are elected annually (usually at the reunion) to manage the information, funds, newsletters, and other aspects of the Nellis Family activities and plans. Funds are maintained by a Treasurer, and there is an Executive Committee to assist in making decisions.
