2009 HOBO SHOW

SPECIALTY FLEECE CLASSES

Exhibitors need not be ALSA members. All entries for these classes must be made from 100% llama, alpaca or other wool fiber. The fiber used can be natural colors or can be dyed. The fiber does not have to be from a llama owned by the entrant, but all workmanship on the items must be done by the persons submitting the entry. Entry fee is $5.00 per item. An unlimited number of entries may be entered by the exhibitor. The entries can be almost anything – use your imagination. Suggestions are: Any type of wearing apparel – sweaters, hats, vests, jackets, mittens, slippers, ponchos, scarves, shawls, afghans, etc. . Entries must be received by Saturday, April 18, 2009, at 8:00 A.M.

111 Knitted using handspun yarns – the entry must be knitted. However, all the yarn
should be hand spun yarn. Hand knitting only. No commercial yarns.

112 Crocheted using handspun yarns – the entry must be crocheted. All the yarn
should be hand spun yarn. Hand crocheted only. No commercial yarns.

113 Knitted using commercial yarns – the entry must be knitted. The yarn need not be
spun by the exhibitor. Hand knitting only. Machine knitting will not be accepted.

114 Crocheted using commercial yarns – the entry must be crocheted. The yarn need
not be spun by the exhibitor.

115 Machine Knitting – the entry must be knitted by the exhibitor, using a knitting
machine or knitting frame. Either hand spun or commercially spun yarn may be used.

116 Weaving using handspun yarn – the entry must be woven by the exhibitor only.
Yarns must be hand spun. No commercial yarns, warp or weft.

117 Weaving using commercial yarn – the entry must be woven by the exhibitor only.
Yarn must be commercially spun.

118 Felted – the entry must be felted by the exhibitor only.

119 2-oz raw fiber – must be in zip lock bag. Not washed or brushed.
Attach picture of llama if possible.

211 Youth Knitted/Crocheted using handspun yarns. Same rules as above.

212 Youth knitted/Crocheted using commercial yarns. Same rules as above.

213 Youth Machine Knitting. Same rules as above.

214 Youth Felted – the entry must be felted by the exhibitor only.

215  Handspun Yarn, Novice - entry must be handspun by the exhibitor
wih less than 2 years experience. 
Include an index card with a description of the prespinning process and intended use for the yarn.

216 Handspun Yarn, Experienced - enry must be handspun by the exhibitor
with more than 2 years experience.
Include an index card with a description of the prespinning process and intended use for the yarn.

Shorn Llama Fleece (helpful hints in the ALSA handbook):
F-1 Double Coat - Up to 24 months
F-2 Double Coat - 24 months and over

F-3 Single Coat - Up to 24 months
F-4 Single Coat - 24 months and over

F-5 Suri Coat - Up to 24 months
F-6 Suri Coat - 24 months and over
