The band began in 1995 with the name MortalThrone. Back then they were primarily a Death Metal band, but their early Black Metal influences grew stronger with time. They had several line-up changes, played live in 1996 and two years later they split up. In 2001 Sorath (vocals and guitar) and SkullCrusher (drums) decided to go on with the band. In early 2002 they hooked up with Argothium, a band made by Satan (vocals), Argoth (guitars) and Frostbitten (bass). The band adopted the name Panzerfrost, and they recorded a demo called 'War and Hate'. They played a couple of gigs thenceforth.
