Interview with Shaman Von Uglk Gorsedd - 7 November 2003
So what's up? Is the band active at all? If not, for how long has it been dead?

The band was never dead, but on hiatus. We knew that we still had a way to go, we just didn't know when or in what form...

Besides the song in the 1996 compilation 'Southern Assault vol. 1' have you released anything else? Did the 'Skyfather' demo ever get to be released? Have you any recordings that never got to
come out?

We got out on the compilation and then we had the tape out but on small quantities, almost by request... that kind of helped us to make a kind of cult and hard to find item out of our music. We did another recording for a track called 'The Druid's Arrow' that never saw the light of the day. The
song was fast and aggressive as hell, we used a drum beat that could not be human, and it's not. Something so incredibly fast, that even Satan couldn't play it. We hope that this track gets out on out next release, whenever it comes out...

What were your biggest musical influences back then? And what are you listening to these days?

We had all major influences, and when I say major, I mean even outside metal. We did this cold and raw sound because we weren't into the clichs of claiming to hear early Bathory, Possessed or Celtic Frost. We were way over that, listening to a lot of modern music and dark as well, so we decided that we could show that we could record a song as fast and as dark as the other bands at the time.

What is your opinion concerning the scene in Portugal these days? Any particular band you like?

I think we have better bands each year, getting more sophisticated and more updated to what goes on outside our borders. Also, the record labels are getting more aware of these bands and the potential they represent, not only in quality music to offer but as in record sales as well.

What is the lyrical concept behind The Pantheon's Key?

Dark, mystic, castles, and above all, words that sound good and fit into the music lines. People usually don't understand the lyrics because we scream when we sing them, so we might as well talk about something that gets into the song rhythm wise.

Have you been active in the Metal scene in other bands or projects during this time?

We all have. Baron D Draug Wyvern is now on a very successful project and on the verge of releasing their debut CD, Druid Daegaur, the Avatar has its own band signed to a North American label and has just release its third album, Turgon, Lord of Gondolindrin works on a major record label, had done some successful recordings and is also heading to studio with his new band and as for me, I still run a metal portal on the net and make music and movies, one of my passions. I'm now working on DVD with several material, due in the next year.

Is there any chance for future releases by The Pantheon's Key?

Yes. We've spoken about the chance of doing an EP on Vinyl with "Fire Across The Funeral" plus some new material and/or remixes. Something  dark and up to date, with an extremely well designed cover, but with the underground stint.

Thank you for your answers! Good luck for your projects!

Thanks for the support! Dark your soul, clear your mind!
