It had been the best two weeks of Pan's life, and she was pretty sure Juunana-gou was having a good time, too. They hadn't found his parents yet, or if they were dead or alive, although they did find out that Mr. Satan remembered them, if vaguely, living there for a few months. But now, it was back to reality, school was starting the next day.
Although she wasn't exactly sure why, Pan had a real feeling of attachment to him. Not like she'd had with Trunks for the longest time, but like she was truely comfortable around him. She could talk to him about anything, from guys to cramps, fighting to school, anything under the sun, and he'd listen attentivly.
"I don't want to go back to school." Pan groaned and chewed on a piece of buttery popcorn, sprawled in Juunana-gou's lap. They'd been watching some old, silent movie on tv, and the silence was becoming boring. "School is where people, boring, agravating, weak people are."
"Look on the bright side," he said. "At least you know that the year is almost over. Your senior year, at that." He grabbed a handful of popcorn.
"I guess that's true." She sighed. "But I've had so much fun the last few days. Just hanging out with you, it's been great."
"Really?" He asked.
"Yeah! Haven't you been having fun?" She asked, sitting up.
"Of course, but I didn't know for sure if you were." He said.
"How could I not?" She laid back down. "It's been great. Kinda fun staying over here. You're house is nice... less busy than Capsule Corp., but if my dad found out.. he'd get all suspicious." She laughed. "Fortunatly, we have nothing to hide, right, Juu-kun?"
"What about that guy we killed?" He asked playfully.
"Oh yeah, him." She scratched her chin and then burst into laughter. "I should go to bed." She sat up, setting the bowl that was previously resting on her stomach on the floor and stretched. "I've got to go to the halls of terror tomorrow."
"Do you want me to come for lunch? Keep you company during torture?" He asked.
"Would you?" Pan inquired, silently hoping.
"Sure." The cyborg shrugged. "Should I bring anything in particular?"
"It depends on if you want to stay at my school or go out." She started for the kitchen, carrying the popcorn. "What do you want to do?"
"It's up to you." He shrugged.
"Might as well stay. It'd be more fun that way, anyway. I get to show you off to my friends." She giggled at his expression. "Just kidding. It would gain some status, though. You'd be classified as a major stud. Possibly an Ultra fox. See, Trunks and Goten, although Goten less, go off the scale, cuz they've got height. You've got a great build, but most of the girls there like to feel secure with a big man."
"You, too?" He inquired, following her into the kitchen.
"No way." She scoffed. "I don't need some guy to protect me, I can beat up anyone of the freaking planet excluding my dad and Vegeta."
"I tend to doubt that your friends know that, though." Juunana-gou pointed out.
"And you'd be right." Pan shrugged. "If I told them, I'd one, never get a date, and two, scare off the entire student body, either cuz they thought I was lying, or because they were freaked."
Juunana-gou shrugged again as Pan started to wash the bowl. "Don't bother, I'll do it later. You've got to get up tomorrow."
"Ugh, you're right." She dropped the bowl in the sink and started for bed. "Damn school."
"Only a few more months, then you'll be free." He followed her to the bedroom.
"I guess." Pan didn't even bother changing clothes.
Juunana-gou pulled his shirt off and layed down next to her.
The girl sighed and turned toward him. "Juu-kun?" She looked up to him.
"Hmm?" He answered.
::Do you think I'm pretty?:: passed through her mind. "Nothing."
Juunana-gou gave her a strange look.
"What?" She asked, suddenly feeling self-conscience.
"I could have sworn..." He shook his head. "Nevermind."
"Night." She pulled the lamp cord.
"Night, Panny." He responded.
The two closed thier eyes and soon fell asleep.
***
Pan shot up in bed and looked around. It was light outside. "Shit!" She jumped up. "I'm late!"
Juunana-gou looked at the clock and sat up as well. "Oops."
"Oops is right!" She said. "I can't believe I forgot to set the alarm!" The girl ran to the dresser and pulled out a t-shirt, jeans, socks, underwear, ect.
"You're not that late. School doesn't start until eight. It's... seven-thirty." He shrugged.
"I'll really have to hurry and I can forget about breakfast." She dashed to the bathroom and turned the water on. "I'm going to be starving all day."
"I'll bring you an extra big lunch." The cyborg offered.
"Would you?" She poked her head out.
"No problem." He gave a small smile.
"Thanks, Juu-kun. I don't know what I'd do without you." Pan shut the bathroom door, hopped in, and took the world's fastest shower.
Within five minutes she was clean, dry, dressed, and pulling her shoes on. "Could you hand me my bag?"
Juunana stood up and pulled the pack from the back of a nearby chair and handed it to the girl.
"I'll just make it if I don't stop. Bye Juu-kun!" She flew out the door. "My lunch period starts at twelve-ten."
"I'll be there!" He called to her retreating back.
Pan disappeared from view.
***
The Saiyan warrioress arrived at school at three minutes till, noticing Bra also run up. "Over slept, too?"
"Of course." Bra dashed to catch Pan.
"Figures." The two ran in together.
"Where have you been?" The younger girl asked.
"I'll tell you later." Pan promised as they parted ways to thier seperate homerooms.
"You'd better." Bra said.
"Later, B-chan." She waved and entered her classroom and practically flew into her seat. "Sorry I'm so... dad!.. er.. Mr. Son. What are you doing here?"
"Substituting, Ms. Son." He smirked.
The girl laughed nervously and set her bag down.
"Welcome back, Pan-chan." One of the students behind her greeted. "Did you have a fun vacation?"
"Yeah." She turned around. "Oh! Hey Mel, what's up?"
"Nothing much." She shrugged.
"What are you doing here, aren't you only a freshman?" Pan asked.
"Our class is doing a project with some of the juniors and seniors. Some of us have been assigned to sit in or switch places." She grinned. "I got to switch with Joanna."
"Who?" The older girl asked.
"Like... you like, don't remember like... Joanna?" She immitated the girl named Joanna's valley girl voice.
Pan laughed. "Now I remember!"
Gohan cleared his throat. "Ms. Son. A word in the hallway, please?"
"Er... coming dad.. I mean Mr. Son." She stood up and followed her father/teacher into the hallway.
"Pan, two questions. Where in Kami's name have you been for the last two weeks?!" He exploded, but quickly cleared his throat, coughing nervously. "What I meant was... I called Capsule Corp. and Bra said she didn't know where you were."
"Uh... the woods?" She offered.
"Out with it, Pan." He crossed his arms.
"I was... stayingwithJuunana-gousowecouldfindoutabouthispastandstufflikethat." She said quickly.
"Come again?" He raised an eyebrow.
"I was staying at Juunana-gou's house because we were going around town and finding info about his and Juuhachi-gou's past." She explained more slowly.
"Uh huh." His eye twitched slightly. "Staying at his house, eh?"
"Dad! We didn't do anything other than look at old newspapers and watch movies!" Pan put her hands on her hips. "What, do you think I'm a slut or something?"
"Teachers hear things." He started.
"Kids hear things, too, dad. But that doesn't make them true. How about that rumor that Trunks and Goten were lovers when they were in highschool, hmm?" She pointed out. "We all know THAT'S not true."
"How'd you know about that?" He asked.
"Oh, come on. It's written on the bathroom walls." She rolled her eyes. "You said you had two questions."
"Why were you late? It's not like you." Gohan inquired.
"We... I... I!!" She corrected. "Overslept."
"We?" The demi-Saiyan crossed his arms again.
"Juunana-gou and I forgot to set the alarm clock." Pan said non-chalantly.
"As in... you were in the same bed... PAN?!" Gohan took a deep breath. "Tell me what's going on."
"Nothing is going on, dad. Believe it or not, it IS possible for a guy and a girl to just be friends." She said. "You and mom were... bad example... Uub and I are friends, and he's married. Trunks and I are friends. Goten and Marron are friends. Bulma and Grandpa were friends. And Bulma and Yamcha, Tien, Chouzu... well, not so much Chouzu, but you get the idea. I have alot of guy friends. Just because we spend time together does NOT mean we're sleeping together!"
"How do I know that?" He asked more quietly.
"You don't trust me, dad!" She stomped her foot, making the lockers rattle. "I'll have you know--"
"Shh." He hushed.
"I'll have you know." She said more quietly. "Other than... you know.. I'm still a virgin."
"Really?" He asked hopefully.
"Yes! I can't believe I am having this conversation in school with my dad... this is not a dad conversation." She pulled on her hair. "I'm going back to homeroom. You should, too. Besides, what happened to Mr. DeMartino?"
"The eye-bug guy?" Gohan asked.
Pan nodded.
"His flight was postponed." He explained.
"Oh.. well. I was talking so, if you'll excuse me." She pushed past him and reentered the classroom.
Gohan turned to the lockers and softly banged his head.
***
The girl sweatdropped as she entered the room, the entire class was looking at her, or at least it seemed. "Family crisis." She smiled weakly.
"You heard the lady!" Melissa exclaimed. "It's none of your business."
The class went back to talking amonst themselves.
"What was that all about?" Mel asked.
"My dad thinks I'm a slut." She banged her head against the younger girl's desk.
"What?" She blinked, putting her hand between Pan's head and the desk.
"I spent vacation at my friend Juunana-gou's house, because we were finding info about his past and all. He's the Jinzouningen, you know." She hinted. "Anyway, he lives in a small cabin, and only has one bed, so we shared. My dad seems to think that we're dating, and other stuff, which we're not."
"Oh." She nodded. "You got to spend all week at some guy's cabin?"
"Both weeks." She replied.
"Lucky." Melissa lightly slapped her shoulder.
"Not lucky. I think he might be bonded to me." She sighed. "I don't know how it's possible, but I think it might be true."
"Bonded?" The girl asked.
Pan nodded. "Saiyan thing."
"Ah." She nodded just as the bell rang. "Hey, I'll catch you later, Pan. Sorry again about uncle stupid."
Pan laughed. "Don't worry about it."
Mel waved as she left the classroom.
***
The rest of the morning flew by uneventfully, the group met together at lunch time, Juunana-gou came bringing loads of food which they ate outside.
"You were at his house?!" Bra screeched. "Juunana-gou, you should be ashamed."
"Bra!" Pan punched her friend. "We didn't do anything!"
"Suuure you didn't." She nodded patronizingly.
"I don't have time for this." Pan stood up. "Juu-kun, thanks for lunch. I'll drop by later to pick up my stuff. We can do some more research over the weekend."
"All right, Pan-chan." Juunana-gou stood, as well.
Pan leaned foward and kissed his cheek lightly without thinking and then walked off.
The cyborg look over to Bra and Melissa who were both squealing.
"That's SO kawaii!!" Bra exclaimed.
"He's blushing." Melissa pointed and giggled.
"I am not!" Juunana turned around and started walking away. "See if I bring you lunch again."
"Aww... sugoi! He likes her!" The demi-Saiyan girl grinned. "Juunana and Panny sittin' in a tree!"
"K-I-S-S-I-N-G!" Mel called.
"First comes love!" Bra chanted.
"Then comes marriage!" The younger girl added.
"Then comes a baby in a baby carriage!" The both finished, giggling like crazy.
The jinzouningen walked off muttering, and took to the air as soon as he was away from the school.
***
By the time lunch was officially over, rumors had already start to spread about Pan living with some guy.
"So, are you getting married?" Someone would run by and ask.
"How's the love nest, Pan?" Another would yell.
If she didn't have such control, she'd have punched them all out long before lunch had been over. She sighed tiredly and opened her locker only to find a picture of a naked couple in her locker. "Eew!"
"Something wrong, Pan?" The captain of the football team came up behind her.
Pan growled and shoved the picture into his hands. "Did you do this, Jerry!?"
"Eew." He crumpled the picture. "No way, that's nasty."
"If I find out who did." She balled her fist and started to punch the locker, but Jerry grabbed her hand.
"Whoa, whoa. Don't hurt your hand, Panny. It's not worth it." He said.
"Hurt my hand.." She sweatdropped. "Yeah..."
"Where did these rumors come from, anyway?" He asked.
"I was talking at lunch with some of my friends." Pan sighed and let her hand drop. "See, I've been staying with my friend Juunana-gou, because... he doesn't remember anything about his past, so we were trying to find stuff out, you know? And people seem to think that just because I said I'd pick up my things later that it meant I was ya know... sleeping with him."
"But you weren't?" The football player asked.
"Of course not!" She exclaimed. "I'm not a slut! I've never even..."
"You're a virgin?" He blinked in surprise.
"Well, no..." She admitted.
"Didn't figure." He said.
"It wasn't exactly choice." Pan muttered.
"Nani?" He tipped his head.
"Nothing. Nevermind." She shook her head. "Anyway. Now everybody's talking about it, and my dad is going to hear it, too!" The girl wailed. "Damnit!"
"I'm sorry, Pan-chan. You don't deserve this... you want to talk about it? Like... over some dinner, or something?" He asked nervously, sweating and blushing.
"Are you asking me out?" She blinked up at him.
"Uh... kinda." He answered.
"You're the first descent guy who's asked me out today." She smiled. "The other ones just want to get some." She glared. "But, sure. I'd like that."
Jerry grinned lopsidedly. "Great! Pick you up at seven?"
"Sure." Pan nodded. "What should I wear? Casual or dressy?"
"Whatever you want. You'd look beautiful in anything." He said.
The girl blushed. "Thanks."
"I speak only the truth." Jerry bowed slightly and started for his next class.
"Wow." Pan leaned against her locker. "What a guy."
***
"A date?" Bra asked, digging in her closet. "With who?"
"Jerry." She answered dreamily.
"The captain of the football team Jerry?" The girl asked, handing Pan another dress.
Pan nodded and started removing the other dress.
"Are you sure that's such a great idea? I mean.. I've heard things." Bra crossed her arms and leaned against the wall.
"Just like you heard things about me and Juunana-gou, but you know it's not true." Pan said pointedly.
The two girls were back at CC, trying on clothes and having a general girlish afternoon.
She sighed. "I hope you're right. I don't want you to get into another bad situation."
"I appreciate the concern, but I'll be fine." She said.
"Hey Bra, could you... oops." Trunks poked his head in.
"Trunks no baka." Bra rolled her eyes. "Don't you ever knock?"
"No." He answered, stepping into the room, eyes skimming over Pan momentarily before looking back to his sister. "I was wondering if I could borrow your car."
"What's wrong with yours?" She responded.
"It won't match my suit!" He exclaimed, pointing to the navy suit he was sporting.
"You need her car because yours doesn't match what you're wearing?" Pan asked skeptically, pulling a short and flowing, dark purple dress with long, flared sleeves.
"Exactly." He nodded.
"I need my car tonight." Bra said.
"You can use mine." Pan offered. "I don't need it, I've got a date and we'll be taking his."
"You have a date?" Trunks sounded more jealous than he'd meant to.
"Am I not allowed to get a date?" She asked.
"No no." He shook his head. "Sure, I'll use your car."
"It's at my house." She informed.
"Thanks, Panny, you're a lifesaver." He started to leave. "Oh, and Pan?"
"Yes?" She asked.
"That one's definatly a keeper." With that, he left.
Pan looked down at the dress and the to Bra who nodded in approval. "Definatly."
Pan smiled and started trying on shoes.
***
"You look great, Pan." Bra said, putting the finishing touches on her make-up.
"I hate make-up." Pan scowled at her reflection, resisting the urge to wipe her face. "I don't look right."
"Sure you do." The younger girl patted her shoulder.
"I can take you playing with my hair, but poweder and blush and lipstick, mascara, all that crap is out of the question." She grabbed a washcloth and started removing the gunk.
"Oh well." Bra sighed. "It was nice while it lasted."
"There." Pan nodded at her reflection. "Much better."
"I think you're right, Panny. You look better without it." She agreed. "Hmm... you're still missing something."
"I know!" She pulled her orange bandana out of her bag and tied it around her upper thigh, just out of view.
"I don't know how, but it worked." Bra shook her head in puzzlement. "We've got shoes, hair, dress, non-make-up, bandana, and bag... I think we're ready to rock. I'll drive you back to your place."
"God, I hope he's not early. I don't need my dad giving him or me the third degree." Pan groaned.
"We'll just have to hurry." Bra grabbed her hand and started for the door.
"Bra, I can't run in these shoes." Pan stumbled and tripped over the tall platform shoes.
"You'll get used to them." She assured and let go of Pan's hand. "Now come on, you're going to be late."
"I thought you were against this." The older girl asked, slowly following.
"When does Pan go out on a date with a football player? This could be my only chance to see us excell to the popular crowd." Bra explained.
"What are you talking about? You know you're one of the most popular people in school. It's hanging out with me that brings your status down." Pan said.
"Maybe so, but I'd rather be friends with a cool person than be like all those other shallow losers." The girl started for the coat closet.
"Well, I'm glad, but I don't think you should kill your chances by hanging with me. I just don't want to be holding you down, or something." She stayed where she was, not wanting to walk anymore than she had to.
"You're not holding me down, Panny. A true friend is better than one of those valleygirl tramps any day." Bra searched for thier coats.
Pan smiled.
"Where are you brats going?" Vegeta grunted, leaning against a nearby wall, arms crossed.
"I'm going out on a date. Trunks has my car, so Bra is dropping me off." Pan explained. "What's it to you, Veggie?"
"That's Vegeta, to you, brat." He said. "And besides. I like to know where my offspring are going."
"I'm not your offspring." She pointed out.
"And thier friends." He continued.
"I feel so privaleged." The girl rolled her eyes.
"What are you doing back there, Bra?" Pan called.
"Wrestling with about eighty coats." Bra squeaked as about ten jackets, coats, and other closet things fell onto her.
Pan sighed and started for the closet, but started to trip over the bulky shoes. "Ah!"
Vegeta sighed and caught the girl before she tumbled to the ground.
"Stupid shoes." She growled and kicked them off. "Bra, I can't wear these."
"Fine, just put them on when we get there." She grabbed thier coats, leaving the rest on a pile on the floor, and handed it to Pan, who was pulling herself out of Vegeta's grasp and standing on her own.
"Thanks." She said, taking her coat. "You too, Veggie-san."
The warrior grunted and walked away.
"Strange family." Pan muttered.
"Tell me about it." Bra agreed.
The two laughed and started for the Son house.
***
"Who are you?" Gohan asked, opening the door.
"Jerry... Pan's date." He said. "Is she here?"
"She's over at Capsule Corp. with Bra right now. She'll be back." Gohan answered, sizing up the guy.
"So... am I going to get the standard, 'you hurt my daughter and I'll kill you speech'?" Jerry asked.
"Just know that it stands." He stepped aside, letting the kid inside.
"My man Gohan!" Trunks landed at the front door. "Where's Pan's... oh. Sorry, didn't know you had company."
"Hey Trunks. Pan told me about a few weeks ago." Gohan smirked and pulled the door shut, stepping outside.
"She.... she did?" He asked nervously, backing up.
"Yup." He grinned.
"Uh huh... what'd she tell you?" He continued backing up.
"Nothing much, really... except that you tried to seduce her.." His dark eyes narrowed.
"Guh... Gohan... you know I'd never hurt Pan.." He stuttered.
"Trunks." He whispered.
"What?" He replied.
"I'm kidding." Gohan stepped back. "Why are you here?"
Trunks's blue eyes widened and he glared. "Man, that isn't funny."
"Sure it was." He shrugged.
"Pan said I could borrow her car." He straightened his suit.
"The car's in the garage, the key is with her." The older demi-Saiyan told the younger.
"Oh... is she here?" Trunks asked.
"Not yet. She'll be here in a minute. Her... date.. is here already." He glared at the door.
"Hn... well, I'll just have to introduce myself." He smirked.
"Don't scare him." Gohan warned. "Too much."
The purple-haired warrior grinned and entered the house.
***
"So, you're Pan's date, eh?" Trunks inquired.
"That's right. Who are you?" Jerry asked, standing up.
"I'm Trunks Briefs. Family friend." He stood up as well.
"Briefs? Like, president Briefs?" The football player blinked.
"Exactly." He smirked. "Our families go way back. I used to babysit Panny. I really care about her. If something were to happen to her while she's out with you... it would be a shame if I had to find whoever was responsible."
"Well, nothing's gonna happen to her. I'm captain of the football team." He smirked back and stuck his chest out.
"I'm impressed." Trunks rolled his eyes. "You do know that her father won the Tenkaichi Bodoukai a few years back, right? You wouldn't happen to know who was a runner up, would you?"
"You, right?" He scoffed.
"Actually, Pan was." He shrugged. "She won one a few years before."
"Yeah right. She's just a girl." He waved it off.
"A girl you don't want to piss off, buddy. If I were you, I'd fear her more than me or Gohan." Trunks sat down again just as Pan and Bra entered the house.
"Hey, Panny." Trunks said, voice friendly. "And wonder Bra."
"Shut up, Shorts." Bra stuck her tongue out just as Goten burst in the door, grinning.
"I knew you were here, Bra-chan." He said.
"Go-chan!" She squealed and jumped into his arms. "What's up?"
"You don't want to know." He grinned.
"Dirty little boy." She whispered. "Let's go catch a movie."
"Cool." He picked her up and spun her around. "Just gotta tell mom where I'm going. You know how she gets."
Everyone who knew Chi Chi nodded sympathetically.
"What are you doing here, Trunks?" Pan asked.
"You forgot to give me the keys." He explained.
"Oh! Sorry." The girl pulled her car keys from her purse and tossed the to Trunks.
"No prob, Panny." He stood up and gave her a hug, smirking at Jerry and then leaving.
"You ready?" He asked, standing up, as well.
"Definatly." She nodded. "Whoops, I left my shoes in Bra's car. "Let's get them before we leave."
Jerry nodded and the two headed for Bra's car.
