Angels Would Fall

(A Duo Maxwell Songfic. Song: “Angel Would Fall” by Melissa Ethridge.)

Writer’s Note:

This is my first songfic. So I’m really sorry that it might not be that good. Gimme a break, ne? But just so ya’ll know, I don’t own ANY writes to any Gundam Wing character… or… Gundam Wing at all… I also do not own any part of “Angels Would Fall” … that belongs to Melissa Ethridge. She’s the singer not me… and she’s a dang good one!  I suck… :P

Beginning of music video starts. The writer sits on a park bench a notebook and pencil. The camera views the notebook and shows what’s written. “Angels Would Fall” A Duo Maxwell Songfic. The writer sighs and taps her pencil on the notebook, trying to think about how to write the songfic. Frustrated with no ideas coming, she closes the notebook and slides the pencil into the binding. She begins to walk out of the park.

(Intro music begins.)

She walks onto the sidewalk and stops at a corner to cross the street. The light is red and she stands to wait for it to change.

The rope that’s wrapped around me

Is cutting through my skin

And the doubts that have surrounded me

Are finding their way in

Thinking of Duo, she palms a small cross hanging from a thin chain around her neck. The writer smiles at the thought of Duo and lets the pendant rest on her chest again. She looks up to see a boy with a long chestnut brown braid on the opposite sidewalk.

The camera begins to follow the boy. He stops at a hotdog stand at another street corner. The camera shows the writer not too far behind the mysterious guy. She watches him buy a hotdog and start to walk off again. He waves back to the stand keeper, showing his face. It’s Duo.

I keep it close to me

Like a holy man prays

In my desperate hour

It’s better that way

So I’ll come by and see you again

I’ll be such a very good friend

Have mercy on my soul

I’ll never let you know

Where my mind has been

Before he can take a bite of his hotdog, Duo sees a homeless old man sitting at the entrance of an alley. Duo gives him his hotdog and smiles. The old man thanks him and smiles back. Duo begins to walk again and the writer continues to follow him. He starts to pass a little boy holding his mother’s hand and a balloon in his other. His mother is talking to another woman, and the boy starts to lose the grip on his balloon. Before it’s out of reach, Duo catches the end of the string and gives the balloon back to the kid and ruffles his hair.

Angels never came down

There’s no one here they want to hang around

But if they knew

If they knew you at all

Then one bye one the angels

Angels would fall

She follows Duo to a church building and stops outside after he goes inside. She sees a stone sign in the lawn by the sidewalk. The Maxwell Church. The next scene shows her looking around at the door, then she sees Duo walking down the isle to the alter. She moves behind a pillar and watches Duo as he admires the crucifix. With her back against the pillar and her head turned to the side, she closes her eyes and wishes that she could be with Duo.

I have crept into your temple

I have slept upon your pew

I have dreamed of the divinity

Inside and out of you

I want it more than truth

I can taste it on my breath

I would give my life for a little, a little death

So I’ll come by and see you again

I’ll be just a very good friend

I will not look upon your face

I will not touch upon your grace

Your ecclesiastic skin

She opens her eyes and looks at Duo again. He is still gazing at the statues and figures. She smiles to herself and the camera views Duo’s face as he looks. The camera goes back to the writer, showing her looking around. The camera pans across the stained glass windows, showing pictures of angels in a brightly colored sky, surrounded by clouds.

Angels never came down

There’s no one here they want to hang around

But if they knew

If they knew you at all

Then one by one the angels

Angels would fall

Sweet angels

She turns toward the alter to watch Duo once more, but sees nothing but an emptu isle. Surprised, she steps out from behind the pillar and looks around to see if she can find him again. Disappointed, she hugs her notebook against her chest, bows her head, and turns to leave.

I’ll come by and see you again

I’ll have to be a very good friend

If I whisper they will know

I’ll just turn around and go

You will never know my sin

She drops her notebook when she sees Duo, his arms crossed over his chest and leaning on his shoulder against the same pillar she was hiding behind.

Angels never came down

There’s no one here they want to hang around

But if they knew

If they knew you at all

Then one by one the angels

Angels would fall

He smiles at her and then picks up her notebook. Duo opens it and reads what’s written. He takes the pencil out of the binding and writes something of his own. He hands it back to the writer and she reads it. She gives him a slightly confused look and he walks up closer to her. He strokes her cheek and then kisses her. She drops her notebook on the floor again. Duo smiles at her and she smiles back with a blush.

There’s no one here they want to hang

But if they knew

If they knew you at all

Then one by one the angels

Angels would fall

Duo and the writer walk out the open church doors. They put and arm around each other’s waist before the go out of focus in the camera. The camera then pans down to the floor, to the open notebook and reveals what’s now written. “Angels Would Fall” A Duo Maxwell Songfic. Summary: he finds his fallen angel.

Oh, angels

Angels would fall

The camera fades to black with the music.

The music video ends.
