First off, No one can denie that Hotohori doesn't glitter like a Star in the night sky. YUMMMY!! *_* ! Mmm.....I reall have to think on this one...A star is a being which is above all others on earth in the same way as Hotohori is the Emperor and therefore above everyone else in Konan. However, to me, a star is both beauitful and lonely. I think Hotohori is the loneist of all the seishi...though this beauty and youth seem to hide it at times. Hotohori is truly a lone star. All his life he has been feared and loved for his power as Emperor. No one can see beyond it- perhaps because everyone in Konan has bee trained from birth to fear and respect the Emperor. It takes a while before the other seishi can feel comfortable around Hotohori and begin to see him as some one other than the Emperor. Miaka. I will rant sometimes about Miaka- but in truth she has a heart and kindness which I can say I would envy (only my brains get in the way sometimes... :P) Miaka is sooo brainless and willing to please Tamahome that she does something that would result in the beheading of anyone else. For some part, I think miaka thinks that everyone is as nice and kind as she is. So perhaps this explains her little forethought in grabbing on the Emperor of Konan's arm!!!!! I think what Hotohori really liked most about Miaka was the simple fact that she never pretended to be something she was not... (I'm not dissing Nuriko here..ok?)
Plus, I suppose her niave nature and helpless look make men fall for her. (haven't gotten this one yet- but I'm thinking it has to deal with the fact that men like to pretend they're in control and protecting a "helpless little girl") I must note that there are startling moments when Miaka is actually very very smart or at least she seems deeper for a brief moment. Take for instance the time when she told Hotohori that you couldn't force someone to change their feelings. That is deep (for Miaka). All the way through the entire anime- up until the last moment- Hotohori's kindness and benevolence as a ruler reigned supreme. Even in his death, Hotohori left with the honor and courage he had always pocesssed. His love for miaka was a grasp for understanding- but even when he discovered Miaka's true feelings he was the honorable gentleman whom stepped aside in order for the one that he loved to have her dream. A lesser man would have tried to rip the two lovers apart and take the girl for himself. The only thing I find kinda curious about Hotohori was hisEmpress. It still werids me out that Hotohori decied to marry a women that looks almost exactly like Nuriko!!! to me this says something here. *giggle giggle* |
