| After six weeks of traveling in Europe and Turkey, Nejat joined his brother, Kenan, working as an engineer at Delco Systems Operations in Santa Barbara. He supported Titan IV rocket launches. He was one of the 10 people in the room that give the �Go�/�No go� for launch. |

| Nejat began scuba diving and was a volunteer at the Marine Mammal Center, when he decided that he didn�t want to spend the rest of his life in an office. Despite a promising career, after 2.5 years, he decided in 1993 to quit and pursue a PhD in marine biology. |
