KwaZulu Natal's Dale Benkenstein produced a classy
unbeaten half century to lead his Howzat cricket side to
a comfortable seven wicket victory over the Hotshots in
the Sports Trust Cricket Challenge, played at the
SuperSport Show on Saturday.
Despite a slow start to their innings at the Tuks Sports
Centre, the Hotshots totalled 176 runs for the loss of
four wickets of their allotted 25 overs, with captain
Neil McKenzie and Western Province lefthander Ashwell
Prince both contributing 61 runs.
The Howzat innings was off to a shocking start with SA
opening batsman Herschelle Gibbs departing for a duck,
but Benkenstein, Graeme Smith (37), Eastern Province's
Robbie Peterson (50) and Northerns Titans star Martin van
Jarsveld (36 not out) all got among the runs, to see
their team to victory in the final over of the match.
