Tour match, Kimberley. Day one of four. South Africa A
289-2 v Sri Lankans
South African Test discards Boeta Dippenaar and Neil
McKenzie both hit centuries in an unbroken stand of for
the third wicket.
For the touring side's bowlers it was a tough first day
at the De Beers Diamond Oval.
When Chaminda Vaas bowled Jacques Rudolph for a duck in
the first over, Sri Lanka may have been expecting to have
a positive first day on their tour of South Africa.
But Dippenaar and Alviro Petersen (42) then got the home
side into the swing of things by adding 68 for the second
wicket.
Dilhara Fernando dismissed Petersen early in the second
hour of play, but that was to be the final success of the
day for the tourists.
McKenzie ended the day on 140, having hit 21 boundaries
in his innings, while Dippenaar, who scored at a much
slower rate, was 101.
