Hall ton powers SA A to victory

Andrew Hall smashed a superb unbeaten 118 to steer South Africa A to an emphatic eight wicket win over Australia A in the final match of the seven game series in Pietermaritzburg on Wednesday.

Earlier, all the South Africa A bowlers contributed to help restrict Australia A too 199 all out in 45.1 overs.

For South Africa, Steve Elworthy, Andre Nel and Robin Peterson each got two wickets, while David Terbrugge, Andrew Hall and Justin Kemp got one each. Ian Harvey was run out.

Australia were in early trouble, losing their first wicket, that of Greg Blewett, with no score on the board. Blewett was caught by Justin Kemp at first slip off Steve Elworthy.

David Terbrugge got the prize wicket of Justin Langer (6) caught at cover point by Ashwell Prince.

Andre Nel then struck in his first over to have Andrew Symonds caught behind by Errol Stewart for 22 as the tourists slumped to 41/3.

Simon Katich added 62 for the fourth wicket with Hussey before he chopped an Andrew Hall delivery
on to his stumps for 31.

Brad Hogg scored just six before edging Elworthy to Stewart in the first over of the veteran paceman's
second spell.

Michael Hussey top scored with 57 before hitting a short Justin Kemp delivery straight to Ashwell Prince at point.

Ian Harvey was the seventh wicket down when he was run out for 17. The last three Australia wickets fell right on top of each other, Ryan Campbell was caught by Elworthy off Robin Peterson for 35, he was followed by Nathan Bracken in the next over, caught brilliantly by Martin Van Jaarsveld just inside the boundary line for a duck, the bowler was Andre Nel.

Robin Peterson finished off the Australians by bowling Michael Clark for 1.

Earlier, South Africa A captain Neil McKenzie won the toss and gave Australia A first occupancy of the crease.

Australia A lead the series 5-0 with one match washed out.

South Africa A have brought in wicketkeeper Errol Stewart, Steve Elworthy and Andrew Hall for Thami Tsolekile, Mfuneko Ngam and the injured Jacques Rudolph.
