Supercricket - November 05
The National cricket selectors have named the following
South African squad for the first Castle Lager/MTN Test
match against Sri Lanka at the Wanderers from the 8th to
the 12th of November.
National selection convener Omar Henry
said the final eleven will be named the morning of the
Test. He added: "Neil McKenzie has shown good form
lately, and his century in Kimberley for the A side last
weekend was mpressive".
McKenzie's Titans
teammate, fast bowler Steve Elworthy, is recalled, having
also impressed the selectors for the A side. His last of
two Test matches was at the Basin Reserve in Wellington,
New Zealand in 1999.
In-form Easterns all
rounder Andrew Hall, who like Elworthy was named one of
South Africa's Mutual and Federal Five Cricketers of the
year last month, has been rewarded for his consistent
performances with both bat and ball this season.
Those players not
involved in the Supersport Series final being played in
Benoni will train at the Wanderers from 3pm today.
The full squad will take
part in a Castle Lager golf day at Pecanwood Estate
tomorrow. From 9am the players will be taken up in a
helicopter for an aerial view of the course and
surroundings. This will be a photographic and TV footage
opportunity.
Thursday's training
session will be from 9:30am at the Wanderers after which
Shaun Pollock will address a news conference.
