My brother Rob! I wanted a cross-processed image to bring out the blue of the eyes, and shot one stop over the flashmeter reading to wash out the skin. A corrected print, reducing the brightness, contrast and colour saturation is not nearly so flattering.

Another cross processed effort, this time of yours truely! Well, every self-respecting photographer has at least one self-portrait! The tricky bit with doing a self portrait though is how to focus and compose. It's best to stop the lens down to allow for some focussing inaccuracies and resign yourself to the fact that you'll be doing lots of cropping of the images after processing!

Bright sunlight can make it tricky to get a good portrait. Try to get your subject somewhere in the shade with some nice soft reflected light in their face and with a simple (and in this case bright) backdrop. Here the backdrop has been (deliberately) thrown a little out of focus to give an idea of the location but not take attention away from the subject.
