My Own Music Links

John Peel, 1939-2004
John Peel was the only hero I've ever had. He is personally responsible for practically everything that passes my ears having played me his favourite records since the late 70's. I miss him, as do thousands, if not millions, of people. This is a placeholder minisite that will become my own tribute to John through articles and links related to his life, his work and his passion for music, life, his family and Liverpool FC.

Listen to my new Internet RADIO SHOWS NEW!
I've finally done it!!! After years of wanting to do a little radio show I've signed up with Live365 and got on with it. I have two shows running back-to-back on a continuous loop, so when you connect you'll appear somewhere amongst the two! Each show is between 60 and 75 minutes long and I'l try to record a new show roughly every two weeks (work and life permitting!) and replace the older of the two shows running. Also check out my tracklistings page for tracklistings for all but the newest shows (since I prefer that people listen first without the tracklisting so they don't know what's coming next!).

External Music Links

PeelAcres.com
This is an excellent John Peel-oriented website run by a fellow Peel fan called Made Of Ale (sounds like Maida Vale Studios ... geddit?!). Well worth spending an evening delving into the links and info you'll find there.

Ben Davies
Brother of my wife Jacky! Check him out, and while you're at it see some pics I did of him a while ago here.

Banazan Records
The small but important independent record label based in Orange County, California, run by Ruby Banazan. Home to the great band Sarandon, whose Miniest Album was amongst the last bunch of records scheduled for airing by John Peel before his death.

Listen With Sarah
The site of Listen With Sarah (AKA Sarah Nelson) whose Animal Hop appeared in John Peel's Festive Fifty 2004. Her album, Are You Sitting Comfortably?, is available for purchase at a price so low you'll have to buy it! Also check out her download under NEW - her tribute to John Peel.

Marcelle van Hoof's "Another Nice Mess" Radio Show
Marcelle van Hoof broadcasts from Amsterdam through the dfm.nu site on Tuesday evenings from 6-8pm UK time (so 7-9pm CET), which you can acess through her new website. Do check out her show for great new and exciting music and a few damned good oldies also thrown in too! She was a friend of John Peel and the influence is clear.

Bearsuit
Bearsuit, from Norwich, are quite unlike anything you will have heard before (unless of course you've heard them before!). John Peel was a huge fan, and so am I. Join their mailing list and they'll send you a free badge!

Two Lone Swordsmen
They did a cracking session for Rob Da Bank's OneMusic show on Radio 1 on 3 February 2004, and now it's time for you to check out their site.

The Beatbox Saboteurs
Home and centre of fun for these Peel faves. And they're having a clear-out ... great music going so cheap!!!

Sliced Peach
The band Sliced Peach are from Weston-Super-Mare and they have me do some of their photography from time to time (although they don't seem to use any of it!).

BBC Radio 1's OneMusic website
The new place to hear what's new in the world of music. Radio 1's OneMusic endeavour has three shows during the week replacing John Peel's slots and carrying on his great work. All three shows are produced by John's producer Louise Kattenhorn and presented by Huw Stephens, Ras Kwarme and Rob Da Bank, respectively. They also have MP3 downloads of new, unsigned artists, full tracklistings of the shows and links to hear the shows again for 7 days after airing. This is also the place to send your demos, so buy some stamps and get recording!

Titian Music, home of the artist Mozez
The artist Mozez, singer-songwriter with Zero7, has given me the exciting challenge of updating his website. Not only for him, but also for fellow artists and Titian projects, such as Precreation.

Mirafiori
Mirafiori is the band of my friend and colleague Ignacio Fernndez. They are fresh from the recording studio and expect their album to be released shortly. Comparisons have been made to several bands (some pleasing Ignacio, others not!), most notably The Field Mice (albeit with Spanish lyrics).
