The proposed SkyTrain down the Grandview Cut (from Commercial Drive to Clark Drive) then on to the Finning lands WILL:
Provide overpriced public transportation to a vacant lot which the City of Vancouver hopes will be developed one day. There is no business plan in place.
Abuse public funds. SkyTrain riders are subsidized $40 per rider. Transit riders are subsidized $2 per rider. These are your tax dollars! This is the SkyTrain to Nowhere!
Have a permanent, negative effect on the people, animals, plants, trees, land, air, water, and beauty of the neighbourhoods adjacent to the Grandview Cut and Broadway SkyTrain station.
Undermine the work done to make the Grandview Cut and Broadway SkyTrain neighbourhoods safe and pleasant for all.
Bypass the public democratic consultative process. Residents and citizens have not been consulted. Have you?
The proposed SkyTrain down the Grandview Cut (from Commercial Drive to Clark Drive) then on to the Finning lands WILL NOT:
Provide much needed improvements to the current Public Transit system which is often dangerously overcrowded or inadequate. It will not ease road rage.
Address the problem of air quality in the Lower Mainland (1 in 12 deaths in the Lower Mainland are attributed to smog). A SkyTrain to Nowhere will not provide relief from the current level of air pollution.
We need immediate solutions to the existing problems of diminished air quality and lack of public transportation, not expensive toy trains to Fantasyland whick destroy existing neighbourhoods for the benefit of whom? Politicians? Developers?
