Chapter 8

The week that followed the Hogsmeade trip passed in a haze of bliss for Karina.  She was engaged to the man she loved and no one could tell her otherwise.  Her peers attributed the gaiety of her mood to the forthcoming holidays.  However, a few select staff members were not fooled.  On the 22nd, two days before Christmas holiday, McGonagall gave Karina detention for disrupting the class.

Youre going crazy bitch! Karina spat as she was informed of her punishment.

How dare you address a teacher with such vulgarity! McGonagall growled back.

You know perfectly well that I didnt do a goddamn thing! Karina continued, her temper rising.

Miss Clark I am the teacher here and if I say you disrupted my class then you did, Minerva stated harshly.

You know what, fuck off you old prune! Karina bellowed as she turned on her heel and headed for the door.

Before exiting, Karina faced the livid woman and gave her the finger.  This only enraged McGonagall more.  She took a few steps towards her, wand raised when a voice broke her concentration.

Minerva, what exactly were you planning on doing to Miss Clark? Dumbledore asked from the doorway, blocking Karinas exit.

Albus, thischild needs to be taught a lesson, Minerva answered, using every ounce of energy to keep from yelling.

Child?  CHILD!?! Karina screeched, drawing her own wand.

I should just get rid of your ugly ass now, before you can fuck my life up even more! Karina screamed, tears in her eyes.

Karina, come on, lets just leave, Snape said, shoving the headmaster out of his way.

You take one step closer to her and Ill McGonagall began.

For gods sake Minerva stop threatening her.  One of these days shes just going to up and curse you into bloody oblivion! Snape said, his voice rising.

McGonagall was speechless.  Dumbledore opened his mouth to say something but simple closed it again.  Severus and Karina left the room and headed straight for the dungeons.

I swear the next time she gives me detention Im going to blow her up! Karina muttered as they entered their bedroom and began packing for the holidays.

Theyd planned the wedding for the 27th of December and honeymoon from the 28th to the 31st.  Over the past few weekends theyd snuck out to Diagon Alley and bought rings and outfits.  Karina had owled her parents about the wedding and was thrilled when they said they couldnt wait and had insisted on buying the cake.

I cant believe your parents arent trying to kill me over all of this, Severus said as he reached over Karina to grab a shirt.

They are cool.  They support me, Karina said smiling at him.

Do they know how long weve been together? he asked, a bit nervous.

Yeah.  After our first time, I owled them, she answered, blushing a bit.

I see, Snape said, blushing as well.

Even though Karina was taking her potion regularly, she was rapidly gaining weight with the twins.  Every few weeks she would stop in and see Madam Pomfrey to check on the progression of the pregnancy.

Are you nervous? she asked suddenly.

About the wedding? Severus answered.

No.  About the staff finding out, Karina replied.

Since when do you give a damn what they think? her lover said.

I dont, Karina shot back.

Well youre acting like you do, he countered.

Look lets not fight over this ok, Karina said lying down on the bed and rubbing her stomach.

Ok, he answered quietly and lay down beside her.

He leaned over and kissed her gently on the stomach.  The next two days passed quickly.  The couple was resting in their bedroom before their trip when somewhere in the distance, a clock chimed midnight and they both sat up with a start.

Were going to be late for our own wedding! Karina said, giggling slightly.

Well we dont want that do we?  Come on, lets go, Severus said, grabbing their bags as they rushed out of the room.

Luckily, most of the students had gone home already so they didnt draw much attention.  Once they were in Hogsmeade, they Apparated to Karinas parents house where the wedding was going to be held.

Hi mum! Hi dad! Karina called as she slipped out of her coat and hung it in the front hall closet.

Karina sweetie! her mother, Genesis exclaimed.

The older woman, who was in her mid forties rushed over and embraced her daughter.  Tears were falling from her blue-grey eyes.  Her father, Joseph sauntered in and joined the group hug.  When they were done fussing over their pride and joy, Joseph made his way over to face her soon to be son-in-law.

She does know how to pick em.  Welcome to the family, he said extending his hand.

Thank you.  You have a gorgeous daughter, Severus responded, shaking the other mans hand.

The four of them shared a quiet, peaceful dinner and then went their separate ways.  The following morning, all were awake at the first light of dawn.  A nervous electricity ran through the house in preparation of the wedding.  The wedding was set for noon and it turned out to be an absolutely glorious day.

Karina had invited only her closest family, her aunt Kathy, uncle James and their two girls Jennifer and Rose, her grandparents from both sides and her godfather, Robert.  Severus on the other hand had decided that Karinas side of the family didnt need to meet his.  After all, the majority of them were not alive and those that were, Severus had minimal contact with.  Remarkably, Robert was an ordained minister and had vehemently agreed to conduct the ceremony.

Karinas dress suited her beautifully.  It was a long sleeved pale blue with a deep v-neck cut.  Instead of the more traditional veil, she wore a diamond and sapphire studded tiara that matched her engagement ring.  Had the majority of the student body seen the magnificent tuxedo Snape was wearing, theyd swear they were dreaming.  It was the traditional black and white, but with silver and gold weaved into it.  The ceremony was held in the Clarks private chapel.

The wedding went smoothly and a bit faster than either Karina or Severus had expected.  By 12:50 they were taking their vows.

Do you, Karina Clark take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband? Robert asked, staring directly at his godchild.

I do, Karina answered and placed the ring on Snapes finger.

And do you, Severus Snape take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife? the minister questioned.

I do, he said, his eyes never leaving Karinas as he placed the ring on her hand.

By the power vested in me, I pronounce you man and wife.  You may now kiss the bride, Robert declared.

The couple embraced each other and their lips met and they shared their first kiss as a married couple, the kiss to seal their fate.  It wasnt as passionate as it would have been if they had been alone but it still brought whoops and cheers from the guests.

The reception took place in the grand ballroom on the third floor of the Clarks mansion.  The small wedding party enjoyed the five tier chocolate cake that Genesis and Joseph had bought and ended up getting into a rather boisterous food fight.

I swear if you hit me one more time with that cake, its going to end up in a very uncomfortable place Severus! Karina yelled as a large chunk of cake flew past her.

Is that a threat? he asked, bursting out laughing.

Yes my dear it is! she answered, as she was hit in the head with a blob of frosting.

The party continued in this manner until everyone was covered in a massive chocolate coating.

Mmm, you taste good, Snape said, taking a bit of frosting from Karinas face.

Just then, the house elves came in and nearly dropped dead.  Theyd never seen so many honorable and noble wizards make such a mess.  Around 5 oclock, everyone headed for the shower so that they could wish Severus and Karina a wonderful honeymoon.  The following morning the couple left for their honeymoon.  The couple Apparated to a small island off the coast of Puerto Rico in which they spent their 4-day honeymoon basking in the sun.

I dont want to go back tomorrow, Karina murmured on the night of the 31st as they lay in bed.

Neither do I but we have to, her husband answered.

Its late, lets get some sleep so we dont look like the walking dead tomorrow, he added with a laugh.

So true, Karina whispered as she fell asleep in her husbands arms.
