Chapter 1

It was a warm July morning in 1608 and Pocahontas was out canoeing. It had been a year and two months since John had left. She figured that he had probably died from his wounds and decided to get on with her life. In her heart, though, she still loved him and was hoping that he would return. Later that day, she saw a ship come into the harbor at Jamestown. Nakoma came and told Pocahontas that she had a guest at her house. A puzzled Pocahontas agreed to came, but wondered who it was.
Im not expecting anyone, she thought, Who could it be  She peeked inside and gasped. There before her was John.
Wingapo Pocahontas He said, a huge smile on his face.
John. Look at you. You look great! Pocahontas exclaimed. She ran over to hug him. John returned her hug.

After a while, they went for a walk. Pocahontas was wondering something.
Why did you come back? she asked John.
Why do you think? he said, you. I didnt want to be away from you another second. What we had before was special. I didnt want to forget it. You know what else I realized when I was recovering was that I had indeed fallen in love with you and I hope you still feel the same.
John, Pocahontas said, reaching up it touch his cheek, 'Of course i do. i was so afraid of losing you i couln't bear to think of it. Now I'm just glad you here." So am I " he said. Pocahontas turned to face him and John slowly took her in his arms. They met in a kiss that spoke of eternal love and respect for one another. When they broke apart, they just stood there staring into the others eyes for a moment. then Pocahontas remembered her surprise.
"Come," she said, "I want to show you something She led him to the stables and stopped by two beautiful horses. A paint and a bay. She walked over to the paint.
This is Breeze she said. John looked her over.
Shes a real beauty. Whos this big fellow? he asked.
Thats Sky Pocahontas said, I picked him out j ust for you. Now we can go riding together.
I cant wait. John said, Well, its getting late. We had better head home. When they got to the village, they made plans to go riding the next day. They agreed to meet at the next afternoon at the stables. After, they kissed good-night and headed to their different huts. Pocahontas sighed and gave silent thanks for John's safty and return. She could hardly wait until tomorrow.
