The Game That Started The Legend

On a crisp November day, the Beachside Tomcats traveled into the frozen tundra of the feild of the Ledgends!! The Tomcats agreed to play an exhibition game versus the "Alumni Team".

The game started out slow as expected. The "Alumni" (Crusaders) went 3 and out. Then a sign of things to come. On the ensuing punt, John Motta (center) flew downfield to claim a bit of history (first tackel by the crusaders). Then the back bone of the Crusaders stepped on to the feild (the defence). Right from the get go, the Crusaders showed their eagerness with an offsides by the defence. On the next snap the Crusaders recorded their first sack by Joe Novello (nosetackel). The game was a succession of 3 and outs. Then the tomcats punched it in after an impressive ball control drive to take the lead at the half 6 to 0.

The second half the Crusaders came out with renewed confidence! The stingy defence created a turn over they gave the offence the spark they needed! The interception by Jim Ronni set the table for the power running of Scott Tucker. The Crusaders powered it into the endzone and added the 2pt conversion to put the Crusaders up 8-6.

Then the speed of the running game took a hit! Torrisi pulled a hamstring but the resillancy of the Crusaders showed when Ronni jumped in the spot and ripped one aroung the left side. He went untouched for 30yards to put the Crusaders up 14-6.
Then the defence shut down the Tomcats. Posting negitive yard for the half.

To cap off the game Rick Lapier(usually a lb but played RB), punched one in from 7 and another from 4 yards out.The Crusaders proved that they had everything that a team needed!

Standouts included: Lapier,Giarrrard,Tucker, the whole Oline, Motta, Ronni, and the whole team acted like true champs!

Now we need to prove it!
