As it stands at the moment the codes that allow you to play GoldenEyes solo arenas in multiplayer are very lengthy, and haven't been ported to PAL. They are also scattered all over the place and quite hard to find on the internet. I have hacked a code that allows you to play with all players using just the four player version of any solo arena in multi code. I have also hacked a code that allows you to play with all players in PAL using the NTSC two player version of any solo arena in multi code. This is both easy to do and saves the trouble of having to port the entire code. It is my hope that we can finish off all the solo arena in multiplayer codes for GoldenEye, and post them in this one topic so that we know where they all are.

One of the main problems with the solo arenas in multi is that in different player modes the in-game level data is put in different places. This means that you end up with three different codes, one for two players, one for three players and one for four players. When you come to entering the codes into your cheating device it takes a long time to enter them all (especially if you don't have a link cable). Ideally you want just one code that works for all player amount modes (in both NTSC and PAL).


Enabling all players in the NTSC four player version of a solo arena in multiplayer code

In the NTSC version of GoldenEye it's exactly 2A80 between where a two player version of a code is put, and where the three player version is put. Its also 2A80 between the three player and four player version (and 5500 between the two player and four player version). To give an example, a code that modifies the X coordinate of a respawn in the Facility Backzone code is at 811E6554 in two player mode, 811E8FD4 in three player mode and 811EBA54 in four player mode. Its 2A80 between each code:

811E6554 + 2A80 = 811E8FD4 three player version
811E8FD4 + 2A80 = 811EBA54 four player version
811EBA54 - 5500 = 811E6554 two player version

At NTSC 80063BF0 there is a pointer with the value 8008E360. This pointer specifies the start of the in-game level data placement. All in-game level data is put after this address. When the pointer has the values 8008E360, the X coord for the respawn is put at 811EBA54 in four player mode, and 811E8FD4 in three player mode. The code you have activated is the four player version, which is constantly writing a value to the address 811EBA54. By modifying the pointer 8008E360 by adding 2A80 to it, all in-game data is put 2A80 further up in the memory. Now the X coord is put at 811EBA54 in three player mode, and the code to change the X coord in four player mode is instead changing the X coord in three player mode. The following code is used:

You can't subtract from the pointer 8008E360, which means that you have to use the four player version of the code as a base code, and codes that change the in-game level data placement to get two and three player to line up with the codes you've activated for four player mode. Using activators on the player amount modifier you get the following code:

This code changes the in-game level data placement depending on how many players are shown to be in the game on the multiplayer menu. By activating the four player version of any solo arena in multi code you can play that level with all players. Here's an example. This code was originally the four player version:

Enabling all players in PAL with the NTSC two player version of a solo arena in multiplayer code

PAL differs slightly from NTSC in several ways. The pointer that specifies the start of the in-game level data is located at 80056DD0 and has the value 80075700, the difference between each player mode is 2A70 instead of 2A80, and the in-game level data is usually put further down in the memory than in NTSC. You could simply modify 80075700 so that the in-game level data lines up with the NTSC four player code, but, the NTSC four player code is too far up in the memory and the code won't work. Instead you need to use the NTSC two player version as a base code, because it's further down in the memory and closer to where the in-game level data is usually put in PAL. The following code will work in most cases (if not all):

You can't simply bang the enable all players code onto any odd NTSC two player code. The code contains several parts that do not modify the in-game level data. These can be easily ported and are the level modifier code, skip intros and sky modifier. Any code that is obviously in the in-game level data part of the memory, like 811FXXXX or 811EXXXX you don't have to worry about. Any code that is less than 8008E360, you have to port.

Facility Backzone doesn't have a level modifier or sky modifier. It does have a music modifier which in this instance needs to be ported manually. The following code was originally the NTSC two player version of Facility Backzone. I tested this code and it works with all players in both a cheating device and PC using Project 64.

Now that I've taught you how to finish off the NTSC versions of the solo arenas in multiplayer codes, and how to easily port them to PAL you can set about finishing any of the levels that you have created. I'm not sure how many of the solo arenas were created for multiplayer. In any case, we should take the time to finish them all off now that it's really easy to get the codes working for all players, and ported to PAL for all the PAL players out there (including me). I'll test any PAL versions of codes that you post here, and I'm sure others are willing to as well.

To avoid confusion you should post the codes in the format I have used for Aztec Complex below. One cheat in the menu of you cheating device can only hold about 60 lines of code. Divide the code up into different parts consisting of 60 lines of code. I need someone to test the Aztec Complex and Facility Backzone codes in a Gameshark.

Interesting work. It should making porting to the other players a lot simpler, and allow them all to work at once. I imagine the levels can handle losing 0x5500 of memory, so it works quite nicely.

Facility Backzone Pro (NTSC GameShark Professional version)

The difference between Facility Backzone and Facility Backzone Pro is that you need a version 3.3 cheating device to get Facility Backzone Pro to work. Pro has gas tanks in it that you can shoot and the actual code is shorter, but you can't shoot away the glass like in the normal Facility Backzone. Both levels have doors and glass in them.

Wouldn't happen to know where the allocation for stage data would be lying around? Again, can be calculated, but setting it should solve all (?) the blackout issues.

I came across this code while porting Wrecks Archives Back Zone code. I'm not quite sure what it does. In two player mode it increases the blackout, but in three player and four player the blackout seems to have been decreased. It's hard for me to tell because I can't play four player by myself and you need four players running around to see if it works very well or not.

The area in the memory that the pointer to the start of the level data is at has lots of different pointers that point to where things are put. Maybe if you tried fiddling with some of the other pointers there you'll be able to change the stage data.

because you're using the 4-player address as a reference point, you don't need a 4-player address change.

So, should work fine with just 2 & 3 player activators. Haven't tested it on one of your own, but did on the unreleased stage.

Taking my multiplayer list and editting the corrected 3-player setups to 4. Might take a while, but my lists should actually work for once after this.

(for those keeping track - the address you insert at 8006 is in fact the start of stage model data. Points for first loaded room)

This is my newest version of the Facility Backzone, which now includes bottling tanks. I managed to save many lines by making the respawns presets, rather than coordinates. This alone cut of 32 lines, allowing other additional codes to be used at the same time. The glass is breakable, but the tanks are indestructable. We don't gas leaking throughout a multiplayer map now, do we? Besides, that would only crash the game when someone dies. Who would they award the point to?...

I believe the "Pro" version of the Facility Backzone was partially hacked by Zoinkity, so perhaps the two of us should share joint credit. However, I noticed that it says the code is only 104 lines, but that seemed way to short. After counting it myself, the code is really 194 lines after expansion. The lines must just have been counted as they appeared, not taking in the amount each serial repeater actually modifies.

I've editted a few things in this thread so far, including the amount of lines and credits for the Facility Backzone Pro. Also, I decided to add on the "Skip Intros" to my new Facility Backzone 2.1, since the game crashes at the beginning if the codes are not switched off.

Well, I suppose I should post Multi Bunker i here too.

The level takes about 14-16 seconds to load up on console, and a little longer yet on an Emulator. If you have trouble getting it to load, try starting the game without changing any of the multiplayer menu settings. Once it starts up, you can exit and then make any of the changes you so desire.

I was just looking at the "Skip Intros" code, trying to see what each line does. This is what I found...

8102A92E 0000 - Allows you to bypass Certification page
8102A932 0000 - Allows you to bypass Nintendo logo straight to folders
8102A93E 0000 - Allows you to bypass RareWare logo straight to folders

8102A92D 0000 - I'm not sure what this does, since it's a 16-bit line that is set on an odd digit. I used to make a lot of codes of the '81' type (16-bit) that were assigned to an odd address. Those codes didn't work, since the GameShark™ could never apply it properly. I think the code is supposed to be..

8102A92C 0000 - But even that doesn't seem to affect anything.

In my opinion, the only code that is really necessary is..

8102A932 0000 - This line allows you to press a button while the Nintendo logo is on screen, skipping you directly to the folders. With all four lines, you will do the same, but you'll usually end up with a musical error. Sometimes there will be no background music, and other times the intro sound will repeat. With just the one line, it puts you at the folders with the proper sound. Hell, if we can get away with saving three lines, why the heck not? Infact, I'm editting the Fac bz 2.1 right now. ;)

come to think of it, when I had to hack out my own no intros code for PAL (site was down, naturally) mine was only two lines.

Well, here's All-in-one Frigate, with some cool clipping and room move stuff. It's slightly different from the old set, but not by much.
Known issue is that 4-player acts a little oddly. One spawn is never used in this setup, and I think it even locked on load once, which is just downright stupid since it's the exact same setup... Never had a problem with 2-3 player though, and 4 player does play nicely, despite that weirdness there.

Just so we're all on the same page here, we have to decide on a final "Enable All Players" code for each region. Normally, the NTSC one was 12 lines. Zoinkity modified it and made it work in only 8 lines. This is what it now looks like...

Looking at the code for PAL, it could be cut in half. Since all of the lines use the base address 8008, you don't need to worry about wasting lines. All that is really necessary is the remaining address, which needs to me modified accordingly. I think one of the levels up top had a code just like this, if not the same...

Edit: There doesn't seem to be a way around it, so it looks like we'll be stuck with the 8 line code. The only other solution would be to lower the addresses, but then we'd have to completely modify our entire code. Yeah, not worth it.

Also: I've tried porting over the Bunker i Multi code for you Krijy, but I'm not sure if I did the whole thing correctly. Since I needed a few codes to change the amount of respawns to six and create an additional pointer, I didn't know what the difference between the regions should be. Looking through the PAL code archives on the site, I believe I found the right codes to work off of. Please let me know if it works when you try it out. :)

Will get to converting to PAL as soon as I can. Actually, quite busy, since I think this can also be used to reserve memory for a gigantic 1-time write. Dummying up the NTSC version right now, but if it even comes remotely close to working, should allow my coolest of cool stages to be ported completely to PAL without any trouble at all.

Yes, please try it out and let me know if everything is in order. :)
If you need to see where all the items should be placed, you can check out GoldenEye Forever (http://www.goldeneyeforever.com). There you will find a page under the Levels section, which includes pictures of all the respawn and item locations. Hopefully they are all the same for PAL, since I did have to make some slight modifications to preset angles.

If it works, I'll get right on converting my Facility Backzone v2.1. ;)

After playing around with the PAL version of Bunker i I realised that we've made a fatal error in the PAL all players enabler! Another line needs to be added in order for it to work. I've fixed all the codes in this topic, but it needs to be added to Bunker i PAL as well.

Wreck, I love the Facility Backzone 2.1, but I'm having a problem with the codes for the glass. Everytime I try to use those codes the game crashes, I double checked my codes but didn't see any mistakes, so I don't know if there's a typo in the codes above or what. I'm going to try to use the original BZ glass codes inplace of the new ones, see if they work. It might just be my GameShark, it is always acting up on me, brand new one too.

With or without the glass the BZ is a great arena, me and my friends are having a deathmatch in it tonight.

Hmm, those codes were the same ones I used in my GameShark&trade; 3.3. I'll go over them and see if there are any errors, then post here if I find anything. There is a fairly big difference between the old Fac bz and the new, so I'm not even sure if the original glass would be compatible with the v2.1. I had to change a few doors in order to make the remaining glass and bottling tanks, of which I chose some different doors to do so. You can try it, but I highly doubt it'll work. Make sure to use the codes for 4-Player Mode glass with the All-In-One code.

Do me a favour and test Glass P.1 without Glass P.2, and then try it vice-versa. The first glass code changes the normal glass in the Facility level, where as the second code makes glass out of doors. If atleast one of them works, I'll know what to look at.

I tested it in an emulator, I don't have a console at the moment unfortunately. It should work in a console though, all the other codes did, so I don't see why yours should be any different.
