 Weinbach Ave., Voegel Road, Boeke Road, RR tracks

 

6. Residents’ Description of their Neighborhood:

 

Ø      Good neighbors

Ø      Friendly people

Ø      Old neighborhood

Ø      Variety of ages

Ø      Big trees.

 

7.  Descriptions of “Ideal Neighborhood”:

 

Ø      No drug houses

Ø      No crime

Ø      Enforcement of scattered housing rules & laws (Section 8 drug house)

Ø      Lights in alleys, streets well lighted

Ø      Dusk-to-dawn lighting

Ø      More lights in easements

Ø      No flooding

Ø      Streets & sidewalks paved

Ø      Redo RR tracks at Weinbach

Ø      Stoplight at Weinbach & Columbia

Ø      Signs for slower traffic

Ø      Children street signs

Ø      Cleaner streets

Ø      Helping hands house

Ø      Park with playground

1. Better Crime Control (20 votes)

2. Proper Drainage (19 votes)

3. Traffic Safety (12 votes)

4. Road & Sidewalk Improvement (10 votes)

5. Neighborhood Beautification (10 votes)

6. Children Safety (4 votes)

 

9.  Goals, Objective and Responsibilities:

 

Goal #1:  BETTER CRIME CONTROL

 

     Neighborhood Objectives:

 

Ø      Neighborhood watch

Ø      Put crime watch signs up

Ø      Telephone network

Ø      ALWAYS call 911 and report 

Ø      Report to neighbors when on vacation, etc.

Ø      Leave on outdoor lights

Ø      Landscape to protect home

 

 Neighborhood Institutions Objectives:

 

Ø      Support financially

Ø      Camera at service station on Weinbach (It is robbed often.)

 

  City Objectives:

 

Ø      More patrols

Ø      Better response time

Ø      Enforce laws for Sec 8 housing

Ø      Better lighting

 

 

Goal #2:  PROPER DRAINAGE

 

     Neighborhood Objective:

 

Ø      Clean leaves and clippings from yard

Ø      Clean sidewalks and street in front of house

Ø      Don’t litter

 

     Neighborhood Institutions Objectives: 

 

Ø      Petition city

Ø      Clean up litter

 

     City Objectives:

 

Ø      Clean sewers

Ø      Install new sewers

Ø      Later tie in to new Weinbach sewer

Ø      Keep flushed out

 

Goal #3:  TRAFFIC SAFETY

 

     Neighborhood Objectives:

 

Ø      Take down license number of offenders

Ø      Neighborhood residents obey laws 

 

 

    City Objectives:

 

Ø      Stop light at Weinbach & Columbia

Ø      Children at play signs

Ø      More street & alley lighting

Ø      Build curbs and sidewalks

Ø      Repave streets

 

Other Resource Objectives:

 

Ø      RR tracks at Weinbach crossing repaired.
