Spencer County non-profit representatives met on February 5, 1999 to review the 1996 community assessment survey and decide which issues were still relevant and add any new ones not included in 1996. Twelve (12) community representatives agreed to a list of forty-two (42) community issues for the Spencer County survey.
Spencer County Respondent Selection:
United Way maintains a database of individuals, organizations and businesses for Spencer County. This database is considered a list of “Key Informants” and is not a representative sampling of the general public. Specifically, the database is composed of:
Ø Individual United Way donors
Ø Nonprofit human service agencies
Ø Public and private organizations
Ø Churches
Ø Schools
Ø All businesses (those who donate and those who do not)
Total Database Size (all mailed survey) = 597
(Nonprofit agencies were also given surveys to copy and distribute to their clientele)
Surveys Returned = 115 (19.2% return rate)
