Ø      Low Crime rate

Ø      Single family dwellings

Ø      Lot of green space

Ø      Mainly neighborhood

Ø      Low spot rezoning

Ø      Quiet

Ø      Peaceful

Ø      Middle-upper income

Ø      High percentage of retired

Ø      Low turn over, long range residents

Ø      Returning generations

Ø      Home-owned residence

Ø      Access to major through-fares

Ø      Lot of churches

Ø      Community pride

Ø      Library

Ø      Good schools

Ø      Close to medical services and needed businesses.

 

7.  Descriptions of “Ideal Neighborhood”:

 

Ø      Lynch Road extended to I64 and beyond

Ø      Maintain R1 zoning

Ø      Lighting improvement

Ø      Improvement of Morgan and Oak Hill intersection

Ø      Safer traffic flow through school zone

Ø      Improvements to Oak Hill Road

Ø      Enforce speed limits

Ø      New library

Ø      Park instead of apartments

Ø      Greenway completed through area

Ø      Improved air quality

Ø      Answer to water/chloramines

Ø      Improved water pressure

Ø      Safety

Ø      A park

Ø      Max Road not connected to Oak Hill Road.

9.  Goals, Objectives and Responsibilities:

 

Goal #1: ENSURE SAFE TRAFFIC FLOW ON OAK HILL ROAD

 

     Neighborhood Objectives: 

 

Ø      Continue to fight for safety improvements.

Ø      Hold line on development

Ø      Report offenders

Ø      Neighbors tow line on speeding

Ø      Educate concerning speed limits

Ø      Improve communication with churches

 

     Neighborhood Institutions Objectives:

 

Ø      Continue to work with neighborhood

Ø      Churches partnership with neighborhoods to lobby for  safety improvements

 

     City Objectives:

 

Ø      Safety Board address Lake Dr/Oak Hill Rd intersection again           

Ø      Accelerate Oak Hill Road from Morgan to Hwy 57

Ø      Address north side of Oak Hill Road/Lynch intersection

Ø      Do not accept Marx Road extension

Ø      No further zoning beyond R1

Ø      Look into improving traffic flow at Vogel School

Ø      Improve Oak Hill/Morgan intersection

Ø      Added speed patrol

Ø      Look for recreational areas throughout city

Goal #3: IMPROVE QUALITY OF AIR AND WATER

 

     Neighborhood Objectives: 

 

Ø      Lobby for answers to chloramine questions

Ø      Monitor nearby industries for air quality

Ø      Report pollution or dumping

Ø      Lobby for improvements to water pressure

Ø      Search for information to chloramines in water

 

     Neighborhood Institutions Objectives:

 

Ø      Don’t pollute

Ø      Self monitor

 

 City Objectives:

 

Ø      Contact Department of Natural Resources concerning goose population

Ø      Address water pressure

Ø      Search for more information on chloramines

Ø      EPA establish air monitoring stations in Oak Hill Neighborhood due to increased industry and traffic in area
