5. Boundaries of Neighborhood:       First Ave. on west, Diamond Ave. on north,

Governor Street on east, & Lloyd Expressway on south.

 

6. Neighbor Description of Neighborhood:

 

This portion was combined with the visioning exercise due to the time limitations.

 

7.  Descriptions of “Ideal Livable Neighborhood”:

 

The visioning here consisted of a couple of people sharing their vision of the neighborhood without some present-day eyesores (e.g. Evansville Plating) and to get started on the redevelopment plan started in c. 1994:

 

Ø      Enforcement of animal control ordinance(s).

Ø      Enforce and “put teeth in” ordinances regarding abandoned vehicles on private property as well as streets and alleys; disposal of appliances, furniture, garbage and debris.

Ø      Have landlords as well as homeowners be responsible for the condition of and activity on their property;

Ø      Start and finish the “North Main Street Beautification Project”;

Ø      Historical Preservation;

Ø      Have trees and greenways properly kept as well as the streets and sewers.

  3. Preservation of the neighborhood character (12)

(Historic preservation was added to the Action Plan of 1997.  The number of votes (6) could be reasonably combined with preservation of neighborhood character (12).
