This
portion was combined with the visioning exercise due to the time limitations.
7. Descriptions of “Ideal Livable
Neighborhood”:
The visioning here consisted of a couple of people
sharing their vision of the neighborhood without some present-day eyesores
(e.g. Evansville Plating) and to get started on the redevelopment plan started
in c. 1994:

Enforcement
of animal control ordinance(s).

Enforce
and “put teeth in” ordinances regarding abandoned vehicles on private property
as well as streets and alleys; disposal of appliances, furniture, garbage and
debris.
Ø
Have
landlords as well as homeowners be responsible for the condition of and
activity on their property;
Ø
Start
and finish the “North Main Street Beautification Project”;
Ø
Historical
Preservation;
Ø
Have
trees and greenways properly kept as well as the streets and sewers.

Agreed-Upon Goals:
(Historic preservation was added to the Action Plan
of 1997. The number of votes (6) could
be reasonably combined with preservation of neighborhood character (12).
