Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, hdc in next ch, dc in next ch and each ch to end.
Row 2: ch 3, skp first dc, dc in back loops of next dc and next 28(38,48) dc, hdc in next st(hdc), sc in next 2 st(sc) .
Row 3:
ch 1, sc in first sc, sc in next sc, hdc in hdc, dc in next dc and each dc to end.
Repeat rows 2&3 until your piece measures 16(18,20)"
*lay flat to measure making sure not to stretch hat*
Finishing:
After you reach your desired size, bring the foundation row behind your active edge, slthe back loop of the active row to the chain edge at the same time, repeat to the end, you now will be at the top of the hat. tie off the yarn and break yarn leaving a 12" tail.
using a darning needle insert thru each sc at top , when you get back to the beginning pull tight. this will close the top. tie ends and weave.
