Tools:
worested weight yarn
4.5 mm hook ( or to gauge)
8 buttons (3/4 - 1" dia)
Game Boy games cartridges
Gauge:
14 st = 4" Directions:
chain 41
[WS] Row 1: hdc in 3rd ch from hook, hdc in each ch to end
[RS] Row 2: ch3 (counts as first dc),skp first hdc, ( dc in next 3 st,dc in front loops on next 8 stn turn, dc in back loops of same 8 st, ch3, dc into both loops of 8 dc, dc in next 3 st) 3 times, dc in last st
[WS] Row 3: ch3, skp first dc, (dc in next 3 st, dc into next 8 st [these are the lower pocket edge] ) 3 times , dc in ch-3 from previous row

[RS] Row 4:ch2, skp first dc, (hdc in next 3, hdc thru both layers of the pocket (this closes the sides), hdc in next 6 (back layer of pocket only), hdc thru both layers of pocket) 3 times, end with hdc in previous row ch
[WS] Row 5: ch2, skp first hdc, hdc to end

Repeat rows 2-5 once more (or more if your child has more game cartridges)

Finishing:
at either short edge
Row 1:join yarn and ch1, sc across
Row 2: ch1, (sc in next 5, ch5 [this is your button loop] ) twice
tie off and weave in ends
Fold in thirds and mark for button placement
Sew buttons on these marks
Inside flaps (6)
I used my cro-hook for the flaps (this is optional)
starting at the right edge of each pocket, join yarn ch 1, insert hook thru each post, draw up a lp. (you will have 8 lps on hook)
yo,draw thru first lp, yo, draw lp thru 2 lp...to end
, sc in next 3, ch5, sc in next 3, tie of and weave in ends.
Fold flap over and place marker for button placement. place your buttons on these marks.
