The 1820 United States Census of Ohio, shows George moved his family to Starr Twp., Hocking County, Ohio from Henry County, Virginia. Later, the 1830 Census shows he moved family from Starr Twp., Hocking County, Ohio to Elk Twp., Athens County, Ohio. At that time, the community of Hope was in Elk Twp., Athens County. When George and Esther's Daughter, Mary, died in 1850, they buried her on their farm and that was the beginning of the Keeton Cemetery.
