*Kikyo*
"No." My insides are frozen. I'm watching this beyond layers of ice, "You can't..."
I fall to the ground in shock and bury my face in my hands. Inuyasha seems to snap out of his trance, and flies forward with his claws outstretched. He knows which Kikyo is evil.
She sees him coming, and shoots arrows at him. The arrows sink into their target, and Inuyasha is pinned to Kagome's God tree. He shudders in pain, as my own power slithers across and beneath his skin.
"Inuyasha!" Kagome screams in terror, and runs toward him. She is thrown back when Kikyo's bow slams into her stomach.
I dig my nails into my face, "Sota...run." I shove him, and he scrambles away. Looking back once, to his sister and me.
Still hunching over, I gather my wits about me. I can do something, but I can't finish this. Kagome's eyes flutter open, and she stares at me. I know she can see my fear.
"I'll distract her some way." I whisper, barely able to hear myself, "You pull out the arrows when her guard is down."
Kagome hesitates, but eventually retreats. She understands that I feel like I need to do this. Think of it as predestination, in a way. "Be careful Kikyo." Kagome says.
"Be careful Kikyo." the other me mocks, "Be careful. What are you planning?"
I stumble forwards, but fall when my legs give way. Breathe, I remind myself, breathe. Before I can stand again, a hand grips my hair and pulls me to my feet. Bad Kikyo is looking at me in disgust, I slap her.
She doesn't show any sign of pain, but hisses "Die."
I float out of my body, and watch her stab an arrow right through my center. There's no pain, but I feel sorrow. Seeing my body shake and fall, with blood pooling around the limp form, rips into my leftover strength. A shriek reaches my half-closed ears and eyes, bad Kikyo's scream.
Good, Inuyasha and Kagome are okay.
Here they are now, leaning over me and calling my name. It's hard to see them now, I've walked too far into the realm of the dead.
I still have time to go back and survive, but what have I gained? Now I have a chance to die, but I have a chance to live happily. What do I choose?
The pathway stretches before me, so I take another step. I promise myself, no more words. It's better like this, I have outlived what I deserve.
Don't worry Inuyasha, don't cry Kagome. It will be alright.
aaaaaaaaaaaaa...i killed off Kikyo! how...depressing. short last chapter, eh? sorry it took so long to update...school work. *gag*
