Dawnbring

In a dark world like this, where Selune fights Shar,

where sun has too short a lease 'fore he is barred,

heroes are treasured, wherever they're from,

for heroes help the light again to come

So gather 'round, listeners, and listen well,

for I have a tale of a hero to tell.

It began in a familiar way,

with a babe born under his mother's swa

Purple eyes, bright and merry, this infant had,

but the dire events to come would be quite sad.

Born, he was, in the lightless great shadow,

where nightmare things lurk with hearts a-hollo

Raised in the darkness of this home of shadows,

where hated evil resides and grief wallows,

our hero kept his stout and noble way,

and not e'en Mother Lloth could hold or sway

In burning rage, with hatred in her dark heart,

she took his loved father to keep them apart.

With a great grief and defiance to spare,

our hero fled in darkness to despai

Out there, in the darkness of the Underdark,

he near lost his soul to the Hunter's wild heart.

But with friendship and strength, Lloth's will he broke:

he survived and fled to the land of hop

But even here shadows lurk in wily ways,

our hero was faced with fear for every day.

For his skin is dark, abhorred in dawn's light,

his visage brought terror to all at night

In all this despair our hero found a friend,

a ranger of noble heart that brought an end,

to fear and gave him lasting hope once more

and taught him the ways of the forest lore

After the great ranger Montolio's death,

our noble hero on a long journey set.

It ended in the land of mourning wind,

on the way fighting foul goblins and flind

In the place of ice where eternal winds blow,

our hero found a girl with a heart of gold.

With fiery hair and fiery heart,

Catti-brie gave our hero hope to start

Her father, rough Bruenor of great Mithril Hall,

sought his ancient homeland that had gone to fall.

Our hero, a dwarf, and a human friend,

sought this place and sent the dragon to

But his family did not forget the slight;

his sister came and showed the Spider Queen's might.

Noble Wulfgar in that battle did fall;

And what sadness shrouded then Mithril Hal

Our foolish hero of pride and fear was filled,

back down to the dark tunnels to find Lloth's will.

If him she wanted, he would give his soul,

to protect his friends and the surface worl

Our hero the pawn, just an excuse, no more...

Erred, did he, by going back through that dark door.

But brave Catti-brie did bring him home safe:

A spear in Lloth's heart and in her dark fac

There was no end to the Spider Queen's red rage.

To the Hall a dark army she sent; no sage

is needed to know the horrors they brought,

but our heroes defied what evil wrought

At the end of the battle, whence many died,

Our hero and Catti-brie did head outside.

The world they saw, then the sea on Sea Sprite.

And for six long years, all the world was righ

Lloth had coldly given Wulfgar's soul away;

Errtu now had our fair hero under sway.

But never fear, our hero did prevail;

Wulfgar to life once more, from dead he haile

To destroy the demon's crystal the friends went,

an evil artifact with too bright a glint.

But from the past, the ghosts once more did rise:

Our hero's great enemy, filled with lie

Tymora nearly frowned on our hero now,

but Luck was with him, to save him from Death's town.

The assassin went on his merry way,

In Icewind Dale our hero can still be found,

Lurking about near the wily rogues' Ten Towns.

Drow, Mother Lloth, demons, and goblins missed

against our stoic, fair, drow ranger Drizz

All heroes bring dawn to this dark world of ours;

now it is Drizzt the drow who lengthens dawn's hour.

Evil Shadows, listen to this singer:

you will fall to the shine of Drizzt the Dawnbringe
