About New England Bassmasters of RI
                         (Also known as NEBRI)

Purpose:

The club offers an oppertunity to study the fundamentals and principles of fishing, the exchange of ideas, and to unite with other fishermen of high moral and good principles. To assist in the teaching of our youth, both to enjoy fishing and to promote conservation and good citizenship needed to protect and preserve our fish and our waters for times to come. To detect and report any polluter and call public and political attention to any crime. To function as a dynamic and effective link with other chapters of the state B.A.S.S. Federation, embracing the principles and purposes of the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society.

The club further aims to promote brotherhood of man in addition to desires of its members to be actively engaged therein in the spirit of helpfulness to fellow fishermen.

Membership:

The chapter shall maintain at least six (6) members. The total membership shall not exceed twenty-four members. As of August 2004 there are 18 members.

Club members receive a monthly club newsletter, BASSMASTER Magazine, as well as BASS TIMES publication.

Meetings:
Club meetings are held at the Noth Scituate Communitty Hall at 7:00 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. (It is not uncommon to hold meetings after tournaments during summer and to alter meeting dates in January.) All members (particularly new members) are encouraged to attend as many meetings as possible to help plan the up-coming season and determine club business.

RI State Federation:
NEBRI is a RI Federated club. A portion of each member's dues goes toward membership in the state federation. As a federated club, NEBRI actively participates in Federation monthly meetings, sends members to the State Qualifying Tournament (SQT) each year, and sends teams to the Federation Club Team Championship. Several club members also fish in the Federation's Tournament Trail.

Tournaments:

NEBRI typically fishes 12 club tournaments per year, beginning in late April and ending in early October. There is typically one weekend "campout" tournament over a Saturday and Sunday during the season.

     The Tournament Committee will:

Plan, organize, and operate all chapter tournaments.

Draft tournament rules, which must then be approved by the general membership.

Keep tournament records, enforce all tournament rules, investigate all protests concerning tournaments.

Make reccomadations to the Board of Directors concerning protests.

All non-boating members are paired with a boater for each event using a prescribed schedule.

Weights are recorded and tracked throughout the season to determine Angler of the Year and Top 8 Team. There is also a Lunker of the Year award for the season's biggest single bass caught during a tournament.
