| - Stop charging the small stuff. Small things like the Starbucks coffee everyday can really add up. Or even the candy bar or soda from the vending machine. Figure up how much you spend on these every day and times it by thirty. How much are you spending a month? A few dollars here and there may not seem like a lot until you track your spending over a months time. Set a budget per week and pay cash for all the small stuff.
- The cash test. If you were paying cash and had a limited amount, would you buy the same things? Even if you use a debit card, you can overspend. If you go to the convenience store with a $5 bill for a snack that�s all you can spend. But what would happen if you used your debit card? If your total was $6 or $7 would that slide by? - Return anything that has tags on it. Take advantage and put that money right back into your pocket. If you haven�t used it by now, chances are you may not. - Review monthly credit card bills and cancel the extras. Are you paying fees for something you don�t need? Credit card insurance and a host of other services can be costly. - Pay bills on time to avoid late fees. Check your monthly statements to be sure your payment is being received on time. If you have a conflict with your due date, call to see if it can be changed. |
