About New England Bassmasters of RI
                                                (Also known as NEBRI)

Purpose:
New England Bassmasters of RI is a fairly small club of fishermen (maximum membership is 25). The club offers an opportunity for all members to:
study the fundamentals and principles of fishing,
 exchange information and ideas,
to unite with other fishermen of high moral and good principles.

Club members commit to promote conservation and good citizenship needed to protect and preserve our fish and our waters for times to come and to share these ideals with fellow fishermen and particularly our youth.

NEBRI is a chapter member of the RI state B.A.S.S. Federation, embracing the principles and purposes of the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society.

Membership:
The club currently has 18 members. All members are expected to support the club by attending club functions, meetings and Federation events.
Anyone interested in joining NEBRI must submit an application at a club meeting. Applications may be obtained by contacting a club officer or leaving a message to the club on the WEB message board.

All potential members must:
submit a completed application form at a club meeting
Be eighteen (18) years of age and be (or become) a member of
B.A.S.S.
Be sponsored by a member in good standing at the time of application.
Complete a probationary period for three (3) months from the date the
membership committee receives the application. During the
probationary period, members may participate in tournaments and
attend meetings, but may not vote on club business.

Club members receive a monthly club newsletter, BASSMASTER Magazine, as well as BASS TIMES publication.

Meetings:
Club meetings are held at the North Scituate Community Hall at 7:00 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. (It is not uncommon to hold meetings after tournaments during summer and to alter meeting dates in January.) All members (particularly new members) are encouraged to attend as many meetings as possible to help plan the up-coming season and determine club business.

RI State Federation:
NEBRI is a RI Federated club. A portion of each member's dues goes toward membership in the state federation. As a federated club, NEBRI actively participates in Federation monthly meetings, sends members to the State Qualifying Tournament (SQT) each year, and sends teams to the Federation Club Team Championship. Several club members also fish in the Federation's Tournament Trail.

Tournaments:
NEBRI typically fishes 12 club tournaments per year, beginning in late April and ending in early October. There is typically one weekend "campout" tournament over a Saturday and Sunday during the season.

The Tournament Committee will:
Plan, organize, and operate all chapter tournaments.
Draft tournament rules, which must then be approved by the general membership.
Keep tournament records, enforce all tournament rules, investigate all protests concerning tournaments.
Make recommendations to the Board of Directors concerning protests.

All non-boating members are paired with a boater for each event using a prescribed schedule.

Weights are recorded and tracked throughout the season to determine Angler of the Year and Top 8 Team. There is also a Lunker of the Year award for the season's biggest single bass caught during a tournament.
