Whats coming in the next few months! Jan 2001

Just finished recording a cover of XTC's 'Boarded Up' for the 'King for a Day' tribute album which hopefully will be used, but if not then nevermind since it was good fun recording it ! Also coming soon on this site will be some real media video footage of the Nearly Men playing live, plus new songs in .rm format and also for the first time on .mp3. Oh and not forgetting the drawings for the mixing desk stand !!!

All quiet on the November Front ! Nov 2000

Well its going to be a quiet November on the Nearly Men Homepage as I'm starting a new musical project that I can't really say a lot about at the moment, but if it turns out OK I'll be a happy man ! As and if things develop I'll post some more info, although apart from this 'Cloak and Dagger' stuff I'm still working on some mixing desk stand ideas to be posted on the DIY Projects Page, so stay tuned !

DIY Projects Page Added Mid Oct 2000

This new page will house various DIY Home recording projects such as pop shields, speaker stands etc. for you to build or adapt to suit your own needs. Each project will have a computer drawn illustration and an AutoCAD Drawing file for download as well as some basic tips. Feel free to use these details to build your own copies or just use them for inspiration for your own designs !

To view and print AutoCAD drawings you will need to download a copy of the free Autodesk 'Volo View Express' Viewer obtainable from http://www.autodesk.co.uk/volo/index.htm

'The Man Who Would Be King'-Released Oct 2000

The latest recording is now available on the Download page featuring the song 'The Man Who Would Be King'. This song was originally written years ago when The Nearly Men were still playing live and I always thought it was one of the better songs from that period, hence it inclusion here. This has been posted as a streaming 'Real' media file so make sure you've got 'Real Player' installed.

'Everybody Knows'-Released Mid Sept 2000

The test recording used in setting up the website is now available on the Download page featuring the song 'Everybody Knows'. This song was originally written with for use on the 'Jack The Ripper Musical Project' (Go to Links Page)but in the end wasn't used, but I kind of liked it, so I recorded it as a test file for this site (mainly because the file size was small so I could upload it quickly etc. This has been posted as a streaming 'Real' media file so make sure you've got 'Real Player' installed.

'Probably'-Released Sept 2000

The First recording is now available on the Download page featuring the song 'Probably'. This has been posted as a streaming 'Real' media file so make sure you've got 'Real Player' installed. Hopefully in the next month or so further recordings should be made available, so check back here for future updates.

First Web Release-Update Aug 2000

The recording of the first two songs to be released on this website is now underway with the midi drums programmed along with some of the keyboard parts. The next week or so should see the keyboards finished and the midi files converted to waves, then it's on to the guitars. Hopefully the download page should be online early/mid September.

New Monitors installed and working (HHb Circle3's and Samson Servo 170 amp). Go to Recording Information page for more info.

'Wasted Years, Wasted Beers'-The Nearly Men Companion Site-Update July 2000

A New site is now online documenting the evolution of The Nearly Men through various line-ups and name changes, including photo's showing the Good, The Bad and the downright Ugly sides of The Nearly Men's musical history !.

Also included are links to sites illustrating the current activities of ex Nearly Men members involving famous and not so famous musicians around the world.

First web Release June 2000

At Present for THE NEARLY MEN it's all hands on deck in the preparation of this website, which is then to be followed by the purchase of a new monitor system hopefully within the next month or so. After this I can get down to some serious recording and start to release some music on to an unsuspecting web, and for which I must say 'May God have mercy on your ears' !

This should all be rolling by the end of the summer (August/September), so come back often for progress updates.
