In December 2002, a house was purchased. Immediately after moving in, we started to remodel
the inside while waiting for Spring before we turned our attention to the yard. During the
Spring and Summer, Ethan tried his talents at gardening - for the first time. The result
was astonishing! The garden took a life of its own with an abundance of tomatoes,
cucumbers, and many, many other excellent vegetables as well as a nice variety and supply
of dahlias and other beautiful flowers.

Originally there was a planter made of landscape timber and
140 million spikes! Since it would not break apart, it had
to be sawed into pieces. This yin-yang design was Ethan's
creation of course - Neal can only picture boxes.

Before we go inside, let's take a look around the yard. Neal
tried his talents at carpentry by building this fence section
and gate - this was done without a kit!

Contrary to popular belief, the gate truly opens and closes
as intended by the builder.

The Garden of Ethan - a delightful organic cornucopia of vegetables and flowers.
The results were truly amazing - the tomatoes were so happy that they overtook
the zucchini!

With this garden, it may be best to keep a little distance.

The east side yard was a mess - large, square concrete pieces were haphazardly
arranged over loose dirt. In the dirt were three layers of concrete blocks.
We created a wall of new concrete blocks for stability, moved all the
old concrete out, and Ethan spent a good deal of money at
Minter's Greenhouse in Earlington.
The square pieces made a nice sidewalk in the west side
yard.

The living room was in need of some color. Here is this room

Now the living room is truly living. The fireplace stands out
better than ever before.

Now a kitchen Martha Stewart would love! Ethan's mom shows off
her new lovely workspace.

And now, the former dining nook - notice the sliding glass door and the
icky green paint.

Abracadabra - the sliding glass door is gone! No more icky green paint!
Again, thanks to Ethan's mom for modeling for us.
