Using PalTalk's convenient buddy list, you can see when your friends and family are online (their names become illuminated) and exchange instant messages with them. You can chat with them individually or create a group where all your buddies can join in a private party.
Your buddy list will be empty immediately following registration. Use the "add pal" button to search for and add buddies to your buddy list. Once you've added them to your list, be sure to send an instant message to let them know you've arrived on PalTalk.
Its easy to send instant messages on PalTalk. When you double-click on your buddies name, a new "communicator" window will open from which you can type text messages, start an audio or video session and exchange files.
When you register for PalTalk, you will be asked to fill out a short form including a nickname and password, your email address and some security information to be used in the event you forget your password. Please be sure to enter this information correctly and thoughtfully as it will enhance your PalTalk experience. When your registration is accepted, you will be lead through a quick download and installation sequence. PalTalk will be started up automatically on your desktop using the nickname and password you specified at registration. Now you are ready to experience PalTalk.

Want to host your very own show? On PalTalk, you can create and host your own groups on almost any topic imaginable, like romance, music, politics and more. As group administrator, you have full control over subject matter, group participants and speaking access to the floor.
But, PalTalk is not only for consumer use. PalTalk's simple and reliable interface make it a great business tool. Used as a virtual office, PalTalk gives you instant access to co-workers whether they are in an office down the hall, on a business trip out-of-town, or tele-commuting from their home office. When you click the "groups" button, a new window will open containing a category listing of PalTalk's many groups along with the number of groups which exist in that category. Click on any category to get the listing of all groups within that category. The group listing displays the group name, group rating, audio status and current # of group participants. Double-click on the listing to enter the group.
You can interact in groups by entering text and/or speaking into your microphone. You can view others who are publishing their video, and, if you have a webcam, you can publish your own video into the group. In moderated groups, the administrator designates permission to take control of the microphone. A camera icon placed next to a nickname indicates that this person is currently publishing video (viewable). Right click on the nickname and select "view video". You may view up to 3 people simultaneously in a group. Switch camera views by using the selector under each of the the video display windows.
Want to create your very own PalTalk group? Click on the "create" button situated on the bottom of the Group Category window. A form will be displayed in which you may specify the parameters of your new group.
