Tanouk leaps showing the scars from his violent transport           Photo by Newcie
Tanouk, also known as Yamato, died on October 24th of 2000.  After being captured in Iceland in 1989, he was transported to Marinland Antibes, France, where he spent 6 years.  There he was segragated from the other whales because of mental and physical health problems.  In November of 1995, he was transferred to Izu- Mito Sea Paradise, Japan.  During the transfer he was supported by only ropes and no sling!  in the above picture u can see the ropes burns due to this cruelty.   It is truly a tragic end and such a waste of life.  I fight for Tanouk and the many other orcas who have died at the hands of humans.
