Tanouk, also known as Yamato, died on October 24th of 2000. After being captured in Iceland in 1989, he was transported to Marinland Antibes, France, where he spent 6 years. There he was segragated from the other whales because of mental and physical health problems. In November of 1995, he was transferred to Izu- Mito Sea Paradise, Japan. During the transfer he was supported by only ropes and no sling! in the above picture u can see the ropes burns due to this cruelty. It is truly a tragic end and such a waste of life. I fight for Tanouk and the many other orcas who have died at the hands of humans. |
