About H.A.E.S.

Haitian-American Association of Engineers and Scientists

H.A.E.S., the Haitian-American Association of Engineers and Scientists
formerly known as the "Haitian American Engineering Society", is a nonprofit
organization, established in the State of Florida since August 2nd, 1989.

The goal of H.A.E.S. as an organization is to promote the application
of Science, Engineering and Technology to help improve the standard
of living in our communities: in the U.S.A and Haiti as well.

Our membership consists of Engineers in various disciplines, including
electrical, electronics, computer, chemical, geology, agriculture,
manufacture, architectural and mechanical. There are also Scientists in
the field of chemistry, geology, biology and optics. Also included are
technicians working in a wide array of disciplines supporting the Engineers
and Scientists.

The key to the organiztion's proper functioning is the LEADERSHIP of the
Board of Directors, a group of nine members elected yearly by the general
membership only if there is more than nine candidates. If there is only nine
eligable candidates or less, they become by default, board members and no
general membership election takes place. However, Officers of the board of
Directors are always elected from within the ranks of the winners of the
general election, or the default board members, if no general election had
taken place, due to a lack of candidates. The officers of the HAES board of
Directors and board members at large meet monthly, on the second Friday of
each month. General members and guests are encouraged and always welcomed to
attend HAES board meeting. Various committees are also formed to carry out
the various tasks at hand. HAES depends on annual renewal membership fees
contribution to fund its year long organization core activities. HAES web
sites are maintained by volunteered and dedicated efforts of HAES's web masters,
with the main purpose to inform the membership and the public on HAES's past,
current and up coming activities, and put information at a mouse click during
this Internet Information age and world communication globalization.

Throughout the year the organization offers seminars and organize special
community base events to achieve its mission.
