Open Letter to Neil Young 2001 |
Dear Neil, Well, it has been almost a year since Rhianna and I saw your "Music in Head Tour" at the breathtaking Red Rocks Ampitheatre in the town of Morrison, Colorado. We plan on attending the 15th Annual Bridge School Benefit concert in Mountain View, California on October 21 and 22 of this year (2001 and are really looking forward to it! Since my last "open" letter to you, time and patience have answered my previous questions (at least in part). To my surprise I have found that some people have the same questions and opinions as I. Everything in life seems to go full circle. When Rhianna and I decided to plan this little expidition I called and asked my brother if he would like to attend the concert with us. He informed me that people are waging a moratorium on buying concert tickets because of the high prices. (Those people must have bought their tickets via "Ticketmaster" no doubt! I swear it did evolve from "Ticketron"!) Today, by pure chance, I somehow was surfing the SFX website when lo and behold I came accross "Neil Young Exclusive Neil Young Scoop: Why Neil Wants to Get Digital". (Yes that is the way it read!) Your words in the article expained that you prefer vinyl to compact discs; However, I am still stumped as to why you chose to have some of your "classic" albums (i.e.Harvest") on CD but chose not to place "Times Fade Away" on CD. Why not leave 'em in vinyl until they can become digitally remastered if CD quality is so poor? Well, I quess that is one of life's little mysteries. And if you are wondering who was the woman who yelled ,"We love you Neil!" right before you and yours sang "Walk On" it was I. My friends and family nearly keeled over when they heard it while watching the Red Rocks video. We even put on the closed caption to make sure. Pretty good voice projection considering it came from Section C Row 62! Well again thanks for the great music! See you, Mary from Pine Ridge, SD HOME |
