Miss National Pre-Teen & Pre-Teen Petite

                                                                Our Mission:
To Recognize achievements, intelligence, and contributions of tomorrow's American women.  To help them build self-confidence.  To encourage them to pursue educational and career goals and become involved in community service.
To accomplish this mission, Miss National Pre-Teen holds state and national pageants to:
*Provide a forum for young girls to demonstrate their accomplishments
*Bring contestants together with peers equally intelligent and motivated
*Present scholarships, awards, and prizes for achievements and contributions
*Help participants improve communication and performance skills

Who may participate and how much time is involved?
The Miss National Pre-Teen program is open to girls ages 9 to 13;  Miss National Pre-Teen Petite is open to girls ages 5 to 8.  Pageants are held in most states and Puerto Rico.  Most state pageants are held between February and September and are scheduled on weekends, usually lasting 1 to 3 days.  The winners of these state pageants compete for the national titles, Miss National Pre-Teen and Miss National Pre-Teen Petite.  Runner-ups in state pageants are invited to compete as Princesses in a separate division during the national pageant in November.  These girls compete for the titles of Miss National Pre-Teen Princess and Miss National Pre-Teen Petite Princess.

How are contestants judged?
Pre-Teens are judged on academics and achievements; poise and personal appearance; personality; and communication skills expressed during a personal interview with judges.  Pre-Teen Petites are not judged on academics.  There are also separate, optional Talent, Essay, and Sportswear divisions.  Recognition, prizes, and awards are also available for "Young Writers," Photo Miss, and Community Service at the national pageant.

Who else is involved?
Thousands of girls across the nation apply to participate in state programs.  Parents, teachers, civic organizations, and business people support this program.  The ideals and principles of the program make it a project in which many groups can join together to promote and encourage American youth.

What about prizes and awards?
Over $150,000 in cash and prizes are awarded annually to pageant participants.  National prizes have included:  7-day cruises, vacations, stereos, luggage, electronics, and much more.
