You Breathe
: Light Touch
(Drops of Jupiter by : Train)
I am back from my soul vacation. And yes I
missed you.
There is a faint ironic smile on my lips.
Moonlight kisses our forms from your window. How fitting for the two children
who have claimed the moon.
Can you realize how much you have meant
to me?
I can hug you without having to explain
why. I can look at you and you will understand. I can run away weeping, fuming,
cursing and you will know not to chase after me. I can ease away silently and
you will know where to find me. I can cry inside and you will wonder why. I can
remain silent and you can understand the quiet words of the hush. I can kiss
you on the lips without promising anything other than this, a light touch
The human touch both of us have been
looking for. Love that doesn’t chain. Love that doesn’t demand. Love that
endures all things.
So much has been demanded of us, it would
not be fair to demand again. It would not be fair to chain each other down. We
will love. We will touch, but still be free to look into the night sky and
wonder what else destiny will serve us.
But do you understand now? I have fallen
for a shooting star. One without a permanent scar. But
I still missed you while I was looking for myself out there. I missed sitting
here on your window sill, silent as rain. I missed the comforting presence of
your hand on my shoulder.
I missed you.
But while you are the moon, I am nothing
more than a darkling shadow that will forever travel in your rays. There may
come a time when we will not be together anymore, but know that I will always
look for your gentle rays and quiet voice. You are my moon, my goddess and my
light.
I shall miss you when I go looking for
myself again, out there.
