Chapter 2 : I’m Driving Here! Shut Up!
“Are we there yet?”
“Erika, that looked like a good shortcut a while ago, why didn’t
you take it?”
“I’m hungry! Where’s the
food?!”
“Jeri! You’ll finish it all before we get there!”
“Erika, let’s take the next left turn, it looks like the fastest
way to get to the Hotel.”
“Are we there yet~?”
“I wanna eat!”
“Well I wanna puke. We’re even!”
“That’s gross”
“Are we there yet?”
Erika felt a growing throb in her head that signaled the end of
her patience. Besides Andrea’s constant backseat driving, Jeri’s unstoppable
hunger, Meg’s constant bickering with Jeri and Yuuki’s never changing question,
there was also the fact that the road they were on was rough.
“Guys…shush already” she started.
“Oi, Erika said to be quiet,” said Andrea who peered at the trio
who sat behind them.
“I’m quiet.” Said Jeri. She pouted and
crossed her arms in front of her.
“It’s not your mouth that’s the problem” interjected Meg, “It’s
the bottomless void that’s your stomach, it keeps on
growling!”
“Hidoiiii~!” shrieked Jeri, reaching over to strangle Meg. Meg
let out a loud “Eep” and started struggling. The two were wrestling now,
growling and giggling with high-pitched voices.
“Are we there yet?’ was Yuuki’s joiner. She was ignored as far
as she was concerned so she said in a louder and even shriller voice, “OI! ARE
WE THERE YET?!?”
“NO WE’RE NOT!” shouted Andrea right on back.
“DO YOU HAVE TO SHOUT AT ME?” responded Yuuki in kind.
“WELL YOU DIDN’T HAVE TO SHOUT INTO MY EAR YOU DUMMY!”
“JERICAH!” was Meg’s exclamation on the other side of the car,
“DON’T DO THAT!”
“WHY NOT?”
“…DON’T!”
“STOP SHOUTING!”
“I’M NOT SHOUTING!”
“YES YOU ARE”
“NO I’M NOT. YOU ARE!”
“NO YOU ARE!”
“YOU ARE!”
“NOT!
“ARE!”
”NOT!”
“SHAAAAAAADDDDDDDUUUUUUUUPPPPPP~~~!!!!” there was a loud screech
as Erika stopped the van suddenly. She glared at the passenger seats with fire
in her eyes. Andrea and Yuuki stopped shouting and looked at her with wide
eyes. Jeri and Meg stopped in mid wrestle and looked up, looking tangled and
surprised.
“Let’s play a game shall we?” she said looking particularly
dangerous.
All of them meekly (and quietly) nodded.
“Everyone TRIES to stay quiet for ten minutes. Okay?” she gave
one final glare before going back to driving.
“Is there a prize?” whispered Yuuki.
“You get to live.” Answered Meg.
1st minute : Andrea decides
for the best and went to sleep. Meg twiddles her thumbs, Yuuki twiddles her
toes, Jeri twiddles her ears.
Yuuki is heard to whisper, “Is that possible?” and points to
Jeri.
2nd minute : Yuuki rummages in her backpack and finds her pack
of bubblegum
3rd minute : The Entire
backseat proceeds to start a contest on who can get the most bubblegum in their
hair. Andrea wakes up and eyes the driver and her fellow passengers with no
small degree of confusedness.
4th minute : Jeri wins by
getting bubble gum up her nose.
5th minute : Jeri blows her
nose.
6th minute : Meg starts to
turn green.
7th minute : Yuuki and Jeri
shrink away farthest from her.
8th minute : Andrea goes
back to sleep.
9th minute : Jeri brings out
a video game and starts to play away.
10th minute : Due to some
misunderstanding about the game, Chaos resumes.
Andrea looked at the little black cloud that was forming over
Erika’s head. Turning slightly, she tucked her head as best as she could.
“THAAAAT’S IT~!” exclaimed Erika and hit the brakes.
*** A Few Minutes Later ***
Andrea sat a little dazed in the front seat. She fiddled
slightly with the masking tape that Erika made her hold and smiled a little at
the silence that reigned in the van.
Turning her head, she took a look behind her, where three
squirming but mostly quiet mummies made of masking tape were.
“Ne…Erika” she said after a while.
“Hmm?”
“You ARE going to let them go later on, right?” she asked
tentatively.
“Maybe. If I feel like it.”
Andrea could only sweatdrop in response.

Author’s Notes : This Chapter was
inspired by the Fic “Road Rage” by Yuchan in the YYHFFML. Almost majority of this chapter is ripped off
from that fic and I thought it was only fitting that I gave the author the
credit she so richly deserves.
