1. “Let’s keep our fingers crossed”

A: Look, it might rain! If it rains, we can’t go rafting on our MT!

B: Let’s keep our fingers crossed.

 

A: I hope we win the prize and get to have dinner with a movie star.

B: Let’s keep our fingers crossed.

 

2. “That’s too bad.”

A: Oh, no! My favorite team lost the game.

B: That’s too bad.

 

A: Ah! I can’t go out with my friends tonight because I haven’t finished my report.

B: That’s too bad.

 

3. “Take it easy”

A: AAAHHH! We missed the subway! Now we’ll be late for the movie.

B: Take it easy. The next train will arrive in less than 5 minutes, and they always show advertisements and previews of new movies before the movie starts.

 

A: Yes, yes!!  I love this song, I love dancing!!

B: Take it easy!  If you dance too hard, you will fall and hurt yourself!

 

4. “I think I’ll…”

Oh, it’s raining!  I don’t want to walk. I think I’ll take a taxi.

 

Why isn’t Robin here yet?  I think I’ll call him.

 

5. Mr. Wang won’t “change his mind.”

My friend said he would give me a ride to Sokcho, but then he changed his mind.

 

I went downtown to the cinema to watch a movie, but all the new movies looked boring, so I changed my mind.

 

Waiter: Would you like anything for dessert?

Guest: Yes, I’d like vanilla ice cream.

Waiter: Ok, I will bring it very soon.

Guest: Oh, wait! I changed my mind.  I don’t want ice cream; I want chocolate cake.
