Old School

Another movie for thirtysomethings and I afraid we don't come out of it too well - I guess it takes the heat off following the release of Johny English as people will have something different to laugh at.

I begins when the happily married male lead returns home early form a business trip to find his wife holding, shall we say an impromptu Tuperware party. No disrespect to the reputable plastics company who revolutionised picnicing but anyone who was alive in the 70's will know what I mean.

Anyway a divorce and subsequent midlife cris ensues and leading man decides to take a house near his old college and set up a new student fraternity (FRAT) He enlists the help of his old friends and a party is thrown and soon they are recapturing their respecctive lost youths though doing considerably better in some departments but rarher unoriginally one of them wakes up with the boss's daughter.

His fraternitity involes bizaare and dangerous initiation rituals that "should not be tried at home" and their antics incur the wrath of the college authorities one of which just happens to be a fellow alumnus.

The madcap American comedy we expected but much better than we thought with a varation on the mud wrestling cliche near it climax and enough nudity for most haelthy tastes and a few references to the club scene which I afraid went over our heads as we just put our name down for Royal Wentworth in the hope well get in while we are still young enough to play and by the time we are someone would have given planning consent for 200 starter homes 16th fairway. A bit of UK politics there I mentioned it once and I think I got away with it. Anywaty enjoy the film but it is definitely not for those of a nervous disposition.
