Bulbs 2(a)

Forward Den Haag Voorburg ut of Town Voorschoten A44 Bollenstreek Lisse and Keukenhof Hillegom Zandvoort Kennemer Duinen National Park The Amsterdam North Sea Canal Beverwijk to Zandaam Zandaam Amstrerdam Sloterdijk Station

This is getting out of hand - we started off playing around in our spare room and now we ended up with something like Genesis or Pink Floyd in that our work seems to go on for every and there seems to be no end to it. But wee still developing as photographers and writers so it just natural that the genre would evolve as we start going to art galleries and pilgrimages to Indian temples. Wee decided to do the bulbs in four parts for memory reasons so please spare our indulgence for just one more time

Like "Bohemian Rhapsody" it is in three parts with the main movement being further split into two.

So here goes ...

Moma just killed a man ...

Forward Backward

Once again we begin with one of Den Haag's terssassen The Zwarte Ruiter or Black Knight famous for it carefully contrived Bohemian atmosphere and extensive beer menu. But once again why spend time at the terras pontificating, preening oneself, people watching and flirting when you can get out into the countryside before it gets too hot and the beer does taste better if you feel you've earned it.

Forward Backward

We exit the Haagelanden area via Holland oldest town Voorburg which dates back to Roman times. Here we see the old shopping street but there are newer facilities in this area as well.

Forward Backward

The church and a clock showing the time to be 8:30 in the morning - It great to be the first up.

Forward Backward

Out of the urban area on the road to Voorschoten and some cows.

Forward Backward

And some sheep

Forward Backward

And the black sheep of the family. Why do they always look at the camera - Don't ask me why but they do,

Forward Backward

Back into the built up area and Voorschoten popular with ex-Pats Brits because of the school. I did here that they were campaigning to have the station renamed Voorschoten Victoria after similar stations in London, Southend and Manchester (that's up the M1 and turn left at Rugby) but as there has been an Exodus in the last year or two the campaign failed to gain momentum though you can tell by the gardens that there are Brits still here.

Forward Backward

The passing train is from Brussels though with the completion of the High Speed Line to Paris UK nationals will be spared this hourly reminder of where they are. Only joking don't sue.

Forward Backward

Although the cows give the impression that we are back in the country there is a new housing development behind us and the railway line is one of the busiest in the World.

Forward Backward

We skirt round the top of Leiden cutting through the university and exit the urban area under the A44 Den Haag (West) to Schipol motorway.

Forward Backward

But were off into the Bollenstreek the Valkenburg on the sign is South Holland and not the more famous one in Limburg.

Forward Backward

Our first sight of a field of tulips.

Forward Backward

A close up shot - It's incredible what you can do with a cheap camera if you understand it limits.

Forward Backward

A wider picture.

Forward Backward

Our horse is wisely keeping it head down.

Forward Backward

One or two daffodils left over from earlier in the season though the late Spring meant that the tulips and daffodils were out at the same time.

Forward Backward

A rather nice shot of a piece of polder from the road.

Forward Backward

The only time our screens will be filled with a sea of orange this year. A stupid joke in 2003 but not if you realise it was held back for 12 months i.e it was originally just before the last World Cup.
