CalMax is an organization that specializes in waste exchange. CalMax is the California Materials Exchange organization. On their site you will find information on what materials one can obtain or get rid of through them.

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has a list of waste exchange organizations within the state of Pennsylvania. Here is the site Waste Exchange Networks. Each one of the organizations listed on the link provide a place to exchange, or purchase materials from.

The production of building materials can cause many environmental problems. The following link will provide you with a greater understanding on what it takes to produce the many construction materials we use (Forest Products Society).

For those of you who want to start using recycled goods the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has made a list of the many products which can be produced from recycled goods. The Official Recycled Products Guide lists many products, producers, and distributors of recycled goods.

If you do not have the resources or experience to tackle a project like mine or another project the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) has a list of builders who might be able to help. The USGBC also has a list of construction projects that have been certified "Green" using the LEED guidelines.

In Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is located the Green Building Alliance. This nonprofit organization promotes environmentally friendly building practices. They provide people from the Pittsburgh region information on "Green Construction" and "Green Builders."

The Environmental Science Department of Allegheny College is linked to many environmental projects in and around Meadville, Pennsylvania. The students and faculty participate and facilitate in many of these projects which range from using art to provide a sense of place, to stream bank stabilization, etc.

The Center for Economic and Environmental Development is affiliated with Allegheny College. This organization uses new approaches to the common problems facing our environment. Students and faculty from Allegheny College with the help from the Meadville Community engage some of the problems.
