You step into the small hallway. The wooden corridor is lit with soft glows which accent the strong grain of the wooden panels. At the end of the hallway, you push open another door and step into the Main Hall.

Krystyna walks over to one of the Journeyman tables and sits down.
Retris enters, chatting with a few other Apprentices. From his spot in the middle, he's barely visible among the sea of tall heads.
Dontel begins to set the journeyrank table.
Jeroch rushes about hoping to get some more places set before more of the Masters begin to make their way down.
Halden finds a pitcher of klah, fills a mug and starts stiring in his usual amount of way way way too much sweetener.
Devon strides into the hall, sweeping the room with his eyes as he casts a wave and smile in the direction of Krysty.
Krystyna smiles and waves to Devon.
Amystia strolls into the main hall, spying the small wooden box she created some time ago and moves over to pick it up off the table. Nodding politely, but silently to the other people in the room, she locates a chair near the back of the room and settles into it. Sketchbook soon drawn out of a bag hanging at her side, she starts doodling on a scrap piece of hide as she looks around.
Retris finally becomes more visible as him and the others spread out to take their usual spots.
Krystyna takes a glass of juice from one of the passing servers. She takes a small sip as her gaze travels over the hall.
Malia steps into the Hall from the Foyer beyond.
Malia has arrived.
Qinan steps into the Hall from the Foyer beyond.
Qinan has arrived.
Jeroch has partially disconnected.
Alia steps into the Hall from the Foyer beyond.
Alia has arrived.
Halden looks ove rand gives Alia a wave. He pushes Krystyna over a bit, making room at the end of the table for his wife.
Dontel finshes up at the Apprentice table.
Jeroch pushes a bit faster to set the utensils down on the last few setting he has yet to do, hoping to get back to the apprentices table quickly.
Lyxia steps into the Hall from the Foyer beyond.
Lyxia has arrived.
Alia hurries over to take a seat beside her husband and Krystyna, apologizing quietly to him for taking so long in delivering her parcel.
Krystyna grins and moves over further so Alia can sit down.
Stannis steps into the Hall from the Foyer beyond.
Stannis has arrived.
Aslana steps into the Hall from the Foyer beyond.
Aslana has arrived.
Halden frowns slightly at Alia, about somethign, then looks around th hall, watching apprentice and joruneymen rush in and take their places.
Aslana follows Stannis in, one of the twin boys in her arms. The twin in her arms is sleeping soundly and peacefully, in spite of the trip BETWEEN.
Lyxia comes in quickly and takes a seat.
Stannis enters, holding one of his sons. Young Tanalis faces out towards the room and seems on the verge of tears, his father's arms both holding him securely and bouncing him gently as he comes in.
Krystyna waves to Lyx and motions to the empty place on her other side, "Hey Lex, come over here and join us."
Malia is chatting with Aslana as they walk in together. She is naturally, going gaga over her nephews.
Lyxia gets up and sits down by Krystyna.
Qinan enters a moment after his wife looking just a tad tired.
"Try and keep him quiet, dear" Aslana says to Stannis. "I've been listening to him cry all day" she adds tiredly. She gives a little smile to Malia. "Two are so much work!"
Malia chuckles "I know...one is a lot of work...I can't imagine two. Wouldn't that be interesting, Qinan, dear? Twins?"
As the Craftmaster talks, she gives a barely noticeable gesture for one of the kitchen girls to start serving dinner.
Making a last minute dive for one of the few remaining chairs around the apprentices table, Jeroch finishes setting his last plate. He grins wryly at those around him, appologizing for the sudden jolt of the chair. "Soerry."
Amystia looks up as more people file into the hall, putting her writing tool and sketchbook down to watch the proceedings. Her fingers don't remain still though, curling up the edges of the book idly as her eyes dart around the room.
Alia leans over to whisper to her husband, a concerned look on her face. She mutters to Halden, "... you aren't... you here.... did... the..."
Qinan comes up to Malia's side nodding to Aslana and Stannis. "Twins?" he looks at Malia a bit confused.
Retris actually moves again. This time to pull out one of the last chairs for a dashing Apprentice.
The servers stream into the hall, bringing in the evening's meal. First to arrive are platters covered with thick herdbeast steaks, the choice cuts going to the masters' tables. You see that they have been grilled and that some drip blood, while others are well done and look nearly burnt. Next to arrive are bowls of baked tubers, each dribbled with butter, and bowls of onions fried in rings. Last are bowls of salad - lettuce, tomato, sliced pepper and cukes, and other veggies that have been tossed with a light vinegrette dressing.
"I have been," says Stannis, "He likes me," he hastily ammends, "Probably because he doesn't see me as much," quick save, and he takes a seat. But he's right, Tanalis isn't crying, not even really fussing, just looking faintly apprehensive.
Malia nods "Two lovely babies..." she says. "Oh...dinner is served. We'll talk after?" she says to Aslana.
Lyxia piles her plate with food and starts eating.
"Of course, Malia" Aslana says, following her husband to his table, settling down with the sleeping Nisalan.
Halden mmmms softly, and grins at Alia, "I guess with steaks, I can forgive you for tricking me..." He stabs a steak nearly as big as his plate that is more alive and dead and moves it to his plate, blood dripping as it is moved. He piles on the onion rings in the wee bit of space left.
more alive than dead that is.
Devon looks at the food, suddenly beginning to feel queasy as places merely a strip of herdbeast and greens onto his plate, spearing them with his fork simultaneously.
Retris quite happily forks onto his plate large amounts of greens with a small piece of meat. Just for colour, probably.
Qinan "They are lovely" he agrees, and loud but he keeps quiet casting a glance to Stannis knowingly before taking up his seat as the meal is served.
Malia takes her place at the center of the Masters' table with Qinan. "Oh! Looks delicious!" she says, piling her plate full...she is eating for two after all.
The apprentice in the corner, will they ever get promoted, pile on the food, making short work of the platters as they move the food to their plates.
Krystyna looks at the platters of food. She takes a small sampling of each and then passes the dishes on.
Stannis casts a grin at his craftsecond, and shifts Tanalis to one knee, continuing to bounce him as he gets a start on making a plate.
Alia's nose wrinkles up in distaste at how uncooked Halden likes his meat and quickly looks away to start cutting up her very well done portion into small pieces.
Jeroch just piles on Onion ring, after Onion ring. Nothing else touches his plate. Fear those sitting next to him.
Qinan grins and finds a steak that sn't drippign blood but neither char. With that he takes a large portion of the salad.
As neatly as if carving wood, Halden cuts up one section of his steak into small pieces. He takes one near raw piece and munches happily.
Amystia takes a slice or two of the herdbeast as it passes her, adding to it some of the greens and tubers. Slowly eating what is on her plate, she continues to carefully watch the people in the room. Every so often her fork is put down and the writing tool is picked up to sketch another line or two on the hide.
Lyxia sighs contentedly as she finishes eating.
Halden eats slowly, if steadily, obvious enjoying his meal.
Devon pushes his plate away, less than a quarter of the herdbeast gone and most of the greens eatened. He self-consciously adjusts his tunic, though it isn't as clean as he would like for the dinner. A quick glance is sent to the fire-lizard perches, making sure his gold is behaving before looking to the Craft-master and -second.
Retris quite cheerfully says to Jeroch as he finishes most of his dinner, "If you breathe on me, I'll be forced to lob a tuber at your head sometime. Or something."
Stannis finishes with as much of his meal as Tanalis is going to let him eat, and tickles his son's belly, provoking a little smile, before he turns his attention toward Malia.
Halden pushes away his plate just in time for the server to waltz by and collect it, as she is with others.
Krystyna finishes the last bite of her dinner. She moves her plate for the servers to reach.
Jeroch crunches cheerfully, yes, cheerfully on his deep fried onion rings. He giggles at Retris. "No, -anytinhg- but a tuber. I'll chew some mint."
The meal is thoroughly enjoyed...and the apprentices are ordered into helping clear the tables. Much grumbling from those apprentices accompany their clean-up, which goes surprisingly quick. After the hall is back in neat and spotless order, Malia stands...albeit with help from Qinan...to make the announcements.
A tuber is tossed from the corner hoard of apprentice. It lands with a splat right between Retris and Jeroch.
Amystia continues to nibble on the food on her plate, obviously not going to finish by the time the actual meeting is to start. She will be able to give her full attention to the Craftmaster and Craftsecond once they wish to speak reguardless of what remains on her plate.
Retris calls without looking, "You missed."
Qinan leaves teh slightly charred grizzeled edge of his small steak, and an empty salad bowl to be picked up, adn then wipes his face quickly with a napkin before helpign Malia.
An onion ring is sent flying across the room, straight for Retris' head.
Halden turns to listen to Malia and qinan, sippinf from his mug of klah.
Jeroch stabs his fork into the tuber with ferocity, his eye quickly scanning left ot right for any onlookers. He waits until the coast is clear before flinging it back into the corner.
A brown firelizard snatches teh ring and dissapears quickly between. yum!
Dontel ducks the flying food sighing softly.
Malia sends a stern glance at the impending food fight "None of that!" she snaps. "I won't have you lot spoiling a good and happy night!"
Retris doesn't even notice as the ring balances on his head, kind of like a halo. A smelly halo.
Alia is quiet as always while Malia speaks, but does seem to be casting apprehensive looks towards her husband from time to time.
Malia looks at her husband and smiles. The two of them have placed a number of new knots on the table in front of them...though likely the other Masters at the table are the only ones who can see which knot denotes which rank.
Halden glances around the hall, trying to guess who is to be promoted.
Malia begins by saying "Senior Apprentice Devon...will you please come up here"
Stannis smiles as the meeting begins.
Aslana gives Stannis a kiss on the cheek "Isn't this exciting?" she asks, cradling the still sleeping Nisalan in her arms.
Devon stands a bit, balancing himself as he places his hand on his stomach. He does manage, however to safely make it to the table. "Yes, ma'am?"
Retris tilts his chair back slightly.
Qinan glares at an apprentice, or two, or mayby just that whole table right there. He straitens up and puts a nice smile on his face as he looks over at Malia. One of the kots dissapears from the table though back into some vast pocket, or was it?
Jeroch sinks at the tone of Malia's words, although his eyes do pierce fiercly into the corner as he tries to watch his back. His mouth gapes open as the announcements begin, easing back to drink some redfruit juice.
Malia leans across the table...sort of...as best a pregnant woman can lean over anything. She speaks in a low tone to Devon, and hands him something.
Devon nods to the Craftmaster, smiling slightly as he seems to have recovered and moves to stand behind Retris and Jeroch. "Apprentice Retris, Jeroch, would you accompany me to the Sr. Apprentice table?" he asks cordially, extending the knots.
Jeroch blinks, turning to Retris with a suprised grin as he sheepishly stands. Ok, so now that -all- attention is drawn towards Retris and him he becomes sheepish.
Stannis grins, and takes Tanalis' hands in his own and shows him how to clap. Not that the lessons likely to stick.
Dontel grins at the two.
Retris stands up, and grins broadly, especially at Jeroch. Amazingly, the onion ring stays right where it is.
Qinan watches quietly, eyes roaming.
Jeroch gulps, silently, following behind Devon.
Retris tags along as well, following Devon.
Stannis alia
Halden smiles his congrates to the apprentices.
Devon takes his seat at the Sr. Apprentice table, whispering a congratulations to Retris and Jeroch before he does so.
Malia waits for the applause and congratulations to die down. She smiles at her two new seniors...then moves on. "Apprentice Amystia? Please join us"
Retris takes one of the seats down by the far end. Well...he's here, that's a start.
Jeroch sits now at the Sr. Apprentice table, grinning with suprise. All that hard work staying awake in Journeyman Kaitin's class must have helped. He mutters a quiet thank you as he passes those congratulating him
Amystia looks up in surprize as she hears her name called. Standing up slowly she wanders up to the Master's table. "Yes, craftmaster."
Malia repeats the action of leaning closer to the Apprentice and whispering to her.
Malia whispers "Please give this apprentice knot to Dontel, announce his promotion, and accompany him on his walk to your table."
Amystia takes what is handed to her and heads back towards her table. Pausing near the Junior apprentice table she places her hand on Dontel's shoulder softly. "Dontel, would you accompany me to the apprentice table?" She asks quietly.
Halden looks over the junior apprentice, errr, new apprentice and smiles.
Jeroch claps wholeheartedly for Dontel.
Dontel blinks "huh?"
Qinan mutters to Malia, "... the... that. Now doesn't..."
Dontel stands and follows Amystia.
Malia chuckles, She mutters to Qinan, "... be... expression..."
Amystia motions with her hand for Dontel to take a seat at the apprentice table, waiting for the newest apprentice to take his seat, she moves back to where her seat is.
Qinan chuckles watching the apprentices antics, adn tehn sighs softly.
Dontel says "Thank you."
The apprentices in the corner seem more interested in talking softly amongst themselves than paying attention to the promotions.
Malia smiles "Congratulations, Dontel" she says, nodding with approval. But she moves on... "Junior Journeyman Lyxia...would you please join us"
Halden looks down the table at Lyxia and winks.
Lyxia gets up and walks over to the Craftmaster. "Yes?"
Malia heeding Qinan's whispered advice, Malia gestures for Lyxia to lean over the table closer to her, so that the Craftmaster can whisper something to the Apprentice.
Malia Apprentice=Junior Journeywoman...sorry!
Lyxia leans over so she can hear Malia.
Jeroch leans in towards Retris, his eyes still wide with disbelief. He mutters to Retris, "... sound interesting..."
Lyxia nods and walks over to where Devon is sitting. Smiling, she holds out a Junior Journeyman's knot and says, "Would you like to come sit with me at the Jr. Journeyman's table?"
Devon looks up at Lyxia with a smile, which gradually broadens into a grin. He's not beaming, but he's close. "I think I will sit with you, Jr. Journeywoman Lyxia," he says.
Halden looks over at Devon and grins. He murmurs to Alia.
Malia can't resist casting a sort of "are you sure?" glance to Qinan. But she does join in the cheering and congratulations for Devon.
Dontel smiles still not believing he was promoted.
Lyxia walks back to her seat and sits down.
Alia tilts her head to listen to her husband, her brows raising a fraction at what Halden says as she continues to watch on the newly promoted Devon.
Qinan smiles encouraginly gritting his teeth a bit as the journeyman walks to his proper table.
Halden shrugs at Alia, winks at her, and turns back to watch Devon.
Devon follows Lyxia and sits across the table from her and Krystyna, his beam now reduced to a dopey grin.
Malia waits until the cheers die down to make an announcement. "Junior Journeyman Devon" she begins. "Qinan and I are still working on your posting. You are officially posted here, at the WoodCraft Hall, until we have a place for you. It shouldn't be long. In the meantime, you will be assisting Master Ilern in teaching his classes."
Krystyna smiles and speaks softly, "Congratulations Devon."
Devon nods, looking to Master Malia. "Thank you, Master Malia, Master Qinan."
Qinan smiles at that and nods "We're sure you'll be of teh greatest assitance to teh Master and his students."
Malia nods "Thank yourself, Devon...you're the one who worked for it" she says, smiling. She then say "Journeywoman Krystyna...please join us"
Halden smiles at Krystyna next to him, "Yourr turn."
Jeroch smiles brightly at Devon. He's learned a few things from the Journeyman.
Krystyna grins at Halden as she stands up. She quietly approaches the Masters table. Bowing slightly she looks at her Craftmaster and Craftsecond, "Yes Ma'am... Sir."
Malia murmers in a low voice to Krystyna.
The apprentice in the corner argue amongst themselves, mostly about having to c all Devon 'sir' and 'journeyman' now.
Qinan shifts as he stands for what seems teh longest times. He grins to Krystyna as she is instructed by Malia.
Krystyna leans down to listen and then nods. She takes a knot from Craftmaster Malia and then turns. She walks over to the Journeymans table and smiles at Jr. Journeywoman Lyxia. She holds out the knot to her, "I'm honored to present you with this new knot. Journeywoman Lyxia."
Lyxia smiles at Krystyna and takes the knot. "Thank you."
Krystyna grins and hugs her friend. "I'm so proud of you Lyx."
Qinan looks at Malia a bit questioningly.
Malia catches Qinan's look and gives him a slight nod.
Qinan mutters to Malia, "... change..."
Malia laughs, She mutters to Qinan, "... it"
Halden looks voer towards the masters, waiting to see if anyone else is being promoted.
Qinan grins and shrugs nonchalantly. He places one palm flat on the table and then shifts his weight swinging over teh top to land with a thud on the hardwood floor in front of the table. He looks quite serious and make sure he has everyones atention. "Halden I ahve something I need to discuss with you" he says ina tone which brokes no argument and a very difinative /now/
Halden glances at Alia quickly, then turns to look at Qinan, "And that might be ?" he questions.
Qinan snorts "Why don't you come find out..."
Alia scoots a little bit away from Halden so he can rise, concern in her pale eyes as she looks from her husband to Qinan.
Halden just nods and stands.
Qinan crosses his arms and waits a bit imatiantly for teh journeyman to come to stand in front of the whole Hall with him.
Halden moves towards Qinan, rather calmly actually.
Qinan just waits quietly.
Halden stands before Qinan before everyone, holding his hands behind his back.
Malia watches with no expression to give away her thoughts. Her arms are crossed over her chest as she waits for Qinan to speak.
Halden looks over Qinan's shoulder at Malia behind him, then turns his attention to the craftsecond.
Alia is sitting up straight in her seat, wanting a clear view of what is going on, nervously chewing on her bottom lip for a moment till she realizes what she's doing and forces herself to stop and look more composed.
Jeroch holds his hand over his mouth, suddenly finding himself trying not to laugh at Haldne's predicament. He clenches his teeth hard not to giggle.
You begin writing a +mail message.
Qinan seems to compose himself over and over. It takes him a moment to start with the right words "Sr. Journeyman Halden is a..." A loud sqauking protest comes from the craftseconds shoulders. Qinan quiets his little sapling and continues "A fine example of a woodsmith. Perhaps a rather shaky and tenuous apprenticship first started as many as Halden found his...nitch in the Hall. over time he devloped the skills necesary to be a successful adn skillful woodsmith."
Halden gulps and looks surprisingly nervous.
Qinan continues eyes looking past Halden to make sure those at teh apprentice tables stay quiet and then to find Alia among those watching. he smiles softly "Perhaps a rather long and enduring apprenticeship later Halden.." he pauses "Made it into journeyhood and was given the ample responsibility of handling all of the Fortian's needs, including but not limited to Fort Weyr and Hold, and the Harper Hall. One can imagine how strenuous and stressful this position has been."
Halden murmurs softly, "Too many orchards..."
Alia seems to be somewhat reassured by the smile she receives from Qinan, but her hands are still nervously wringing the linen napkin she is holding in her lap.
Qinan waits jsut long enough for imaginations of horrors one might face wiegthed down with the responsibility of a huge chunk of Pern settle on the Hall. "yet through it ..all.. Halden managed to find life as well as Craft.. His skills have developed to a point where doesn't recognise his former apprentice work for the finery that is now produced by our carver. His skills have brought...well /almost/ nothing but praise fromthose who have beheld his work, and to who he is beholden.
Halden glances towards the fireplace at that.
Alia cannot help but smile proudly at what is being said about her Halden. She smiles over at Krysty at the same time Halden looks at the accursed fireplace.
Krystyna smiles back at Alia. She then looks back to Qinan as she waits to see what he says next.
Qinan continues with a strait face "yet one can hardly expect perfection, and we don't, but some fall as close to it as one may ever expect to fine. I'm afraid Halden that you are one of those people. There are few rewards that come with such responsibilities but one of them is an appropriate bestowal from the Hall for such who have reached this pahse in their career."
Halden seems to have lost the drift of what Qinan is saying, still looking in the fireplace.
Jeroch whispers ever so softly with some of the other apprentices who excitedly point and whisper at the MAsters and Halden up at the front
Qinan makes it sound so disasterous even as his hands clasp behidn his back and he continues on...and youthought his lectures were bad...though he does seem to be getting to some point. Saplign reemerges on the craftseconds shoulder looking as upset as a spoiled child who has not gotten her way. The cratfsecond snorts having lost track of what he was saying in the distraction. You can hear him mutter somethign before he steps closer to Halden, reaching over and removing his knot without further comment.
Halden jumps, and jerks back, turning to face Qinan as he finishes his long winded speech, "Huh ? What ?"
A loud snoring sound comes from the apprentices in the corner.
Qinan tugs the knot away and tosses it casually over his shoulder onto teh masters table. "You won't be needing this anymore, though I do hope youwill pay closer attentoin in the future Master Halden." he finishes by attaching a newly woven knot. The stiff chords smell fresh of the leather and dye from which they are fashioned.
Alia releases the breath she was holding and drops the wrinkled napkin onto the table, not needing it any longer, her smile wide and her eyes beaming with pride. "Master. He's a Master!" she excitedly whispers to Krystyna.
Krystyna looks over at Alia with a smile, "How wonderful." She gives Alia a quick hug.
Jeroch claps nudging a sleeping apprentice nearby. "Wake up silly!!" he whispers loudly.
Halden blinks, "Me ? A master ?" he asks stunned.
Qinan gives him a /look/. Two new chairs are brought out and added to the Master's table. Qinan leans closer murmuring something to the new Master...
Halden listens more closely this time.
Alia cannot stop smiling, she is so very pleased at what has just happened.
Malia catches Alia's eyes for a brief moment, giving her a big grin...as she is proud as well.
Qinan mutters to Halden, "... be... to... do have... join... places... up for... be... current... though Malia and I do... a... things. There's some apprentices... be... before... and... return... the snows get to... at... three... nutshells... please sit... ease your burdens... moments..."
Halden smiles at Qinan's murmur and nods. He grins and moves towards Alia, offering her a hand, "Join me at the master's table love ?"
Qinan nods leading Halden and Alia as she join to their seats, before returning to Malia's side.
Alia places her hand in her husband's and rises. Being bold, for her, she gives him a quick kiss on the cheek before being led away, all smiles.
Halden smiles and takes a seat at the master's table at hte new chairs.
Malia smiles at Master Halden "Congratulations, Halden...it is a well-deserved promotion"
Halden smiles at Malia, "Thank you master Malia ma'am."
Alia settles in beside Halden, her usual nervousness at being in front of such a large gathering currently overshadowed by her happiness for Halden and the relief of seeing him being civil with Malia..
Malia continues on with announcements. "The harpers have asked to have some woodsmiths posted to their hall so that they can be trained in the art of curing and preparing wood for making instruments. I have decided to send Jeroch and Derannen to the Harper Hall, for half a turn"
Jeroch's mouth gapes open, suddenly suprised at Malia's announcement." Wha?"
Malia smiles at Halden "Not exactly...they will technically be studying under Masterharper Shirana herself...but will also be available to help you out as needed"
Halden ohs softly and nods at Malia.
Malia looks at Jeroch and Derannen (he's here...really). "This is a serious responsibility...and quite an honor. I hope you will both bring honor to the craft, study hard, and be respectful to the Masterharper.
Malia looks at Jeroch and Derannen (he's here...really). "This is a serious responsibility...and quite an honor. I hope you will both bring honor to the craft, study hard, and be respectful to the Masterharper.
Malia pokes and prods all of you to get to the Meeting Room...The IC portion of this dinner is CLOSED :)
Qinan ouches and runs..;)
Jeroch nods solemly at Malia, the wordl of responsibilities suddenly crushing down upon him.
Malia says "The first announcement is a few policy changes of how the WoodCraft works."
Qinan kerplunks down in a cushy chair.
Jeroch says "No more pranks :)""
"Change number 1: Exams are no longer an OOC part of being promoted...though they still are IC...and can be RP'ed as such. Those older woodsmiths will remember that you had to submit a formal +mail request in order to be promoted...only at certain times of the year. This is /no longer/ the case. Qinan and I will be taking care of promotions within rank. IE... Apprentice to Sr. JM to Sr. JM. If you want to move up a rank. IE...Sr. Apprentice to JM...or Sr JM to Master, you must submit it through the command built into all the hall rooms, found in +lhelp commands.
Malia notes in that previous pose that 'Apprentice to Sr. JM to Sr. JM' should read as "Apprentice to Sr. Apprentice...JM to Sr. JM..."
Malia says "Any questions?? :)"
Jeroch duhs and seems a bit confused now.
Devon doesn't remember having to do that, so no. :)
Krystyna shakes her head no.
Jeroch says "Ok, re-read...."
Malia smiles at Jeroch "What's confusing? I'll be happy to explain more :)"
Jeroch says "I'm fine now"
Malia ahhs "Ok :)"
"As apprentices, Hadrina is keeping a pretty good record of your progress. But we also need your help to know what you're doing as a character. Or any OOC things you're working on for the craft. +mail is your friend! This is true for JM as well. Qinan and I need to be kept informed of your activities. Perhaps a monthly +mail summarizing your RP...commissions...gossip from your posting...etc."
Stannis raises his hand.
Malia says "Yes Stas?"
Qinan thinks the local help is going to get a massive updating as well..:)
Stannis says "Do I have any mentees?"
Malia shakes her head "No...we've just been mentoring apprentices...but you will have them...once we implement the new policy I'll be bringing up in a few minutes :)"
Stannis oopses and shushes.
Malia laughs
Malia says "Any questions on that?"
Devon nopes.
Jeroch giggles
Malia continues, then :)
Krystyna makes a note on her to do list 'monthly +mail'. She then grins, "Got it."
"Next change...We are dropping the rank levels in subcrafts. No more "Carpentry, Level 5. This is the official announcement that you can stop worrying about it and take it out of your +pos. This affects the way we will be doing secondary subcrafts. You cannot pick a secondary subcraft until you are a JM (not Junior JM) rank...and only then, IC'ly, will you begin studying. You won't be an expert in the secondary....as much as you will be in your primary subcraft :)
Malia says "Any questions?"
Krystyna nods and raises her hand.
Malia says "Yes, Krystyna?"
Krystyna says "Do we put in for a second subcraft through the +lhelp requests like we do promotions?"
Malia nods "Yep :)"
Devon says "So instead of rank, we'd substitute the sub?"
Malia nods to Dev :)
Krystyna nods and thanks Malia for the answer.
Devon nods. "A'righty. :)"
Malia grins "Any more?"
Devon shakes his head.
"Ok...some may remember the way we used to handle Sr. Appies. Half of the Sr. Appie'ship was spent posted with a JM or Master at another hold/hall/weyr. We dropped it, because it was a hassle...posted Sr. appies idled out...and it didn't seem to be working. However...with a new influx of apprentices...all of which, I believe, are active...we will be trying this, though modified, again..." (more to come...)
Jeroch hmms .:)
"What we will be doing is sending an appie (either Apprentice or Senior Apprentice) to a posting for a brief period of time...like we are doing with Jeroch and Derannen. We will try to post you somewhere active and that has something to do with the subcraft you are showing interest in. This worked with Krystyna, who subcrafts in tools, who spent time at the Smithcraft, learning the metallic aspect of her subcraft. We are hoping to do this with all apprentices. If you, as an apprentice, has an idea of where you'd like to go...that will fit IC'ly with your chosen subcraft...just let us know. For instance, those interested in Forestry might like to post with Dione at S. Boll...Carvers at Tillek with Flint...
Devon says "What about carpenters?"
Malia says "We're still working on the details, Dev. But we do have posted (though idle) JM carpenters...and now an active JM carpenter to send appies to. The Master or JM you are going to study with doesn't necessarily have to be active for you to go and RP being there. IC'ly you'd study with him."
Jeroch says "May I ask something?? What if it turns out as a newly promoted SR App you don't actually LIKE your subscraft as you start getting into it. Has that happened and what do you do about it (this is just general Q btw""
Malia answers Jeroch "We have changed it for some...but hope that by the time you are a JM you will have decided and will stick with it. Besides...you can take your time choosing the subcraft...we don't expect you to pick right now"
Malia notes that I have talked with quite a few area leaders...and they are willing to welcome posted temporary woodsmiths. The JM or Master you're going to can even be NPC
Malia says "Any other questions?"
Qinan nods. Might give you a better idea of where you would like to be posted to eventually as well...
Jeroch nods.
Malia nods to Qinan "And give you a chance to RP in other places...with a great IC reason for being there :)"
Malia says "Last and certainly not least...the old problem of TP's!!! We need them!"
Malia says "PLEASE send us any ideas you have...as well as any suggestions for classes you'd like us to teach...or classes you'd like to teach. Appies can teach as well...by emitting a JM or Master :)"
Malia says "But...Qinan and I would really like to get some TP's off the ground that don't resemble 70's disaster movies :)"
Qinan aws..
Jeroch says "I'm still trying to pull together on some common tree diseases"
Jeroch says "What about the sawmill?
Amystia can help participate in them, but definitelynot think of them.
Malia nods to Jeroch "That sounds great :)"
Malia hrms "Thanks for reminding me...I'll +mail or page Loren...
Qinan nods.
Malia looks at her Qinan ;) "Anything else, dear?"
Jeroch eeps. I feel like i'm in the twilight zone.
Qinan gets his brain pick elseMUSH..um...not that I can think of. Classes that you would like to see are great, TP's are great...woodies are great..um..:)
