| Chapter 3 *7 MONTHS LATER* Sarah walked into the diner at 7 that morning. She was doing an early shift, so her and Nick could go out Friday for their seven month anniversary. She got into her uniform and stuffed the rest of her clothes into her bag. Her parents had been clueless about Nick. They had believed her and Kevin were an item, when they weren't. Nick and her had been careful not to be seen by her parents wherever they were at. Jennifer understood where she was coming from and promised not tell anyone that she was seeing Nick. "Hey Ray." Sarah said starting the coffee for the day. She was thankful that the diner didn't open for another hour. She wiped everything down and had everything in place by the time the diner opened and people started piling in. She was taking orders when Nick, Kevin, Brian, and AJ walked in. She smiled and waved to the guys. Michelle was going to take their order, but Sarah begged her not too. "You just want to take their table because you're in love with blondie over there." Michelle said rolling her eyes. "Look, if you let me take their table I will give you half of my extra tips." she said. "Okay." Michelle said. "Just for you." Sarah thanked her and she grabbed a new pad from under the counter. She walked over. "Hey guys. You're up early for a Thursday morning." Sarah said. "Well I wanted to be up early just to see you." Nick said. Sarah blushed. "What can I get for you guys?" "Are you on the menu?" Nick asked. "Nick! Stop!" AJ said annoyed. "It gets tiring after so long." "Awe. You're just jealous because you don't have anyone." Brian said. "I think I could arrange for you to have someone." Sarah said. "You see that girl over there?" AJ looked directly at Michelle. "Yeah. She's beautiful." "Well she's single. If you wanna try and ask her out you would have a 100% acceptance." Sarah said. "And lay it on thick. She loves that sort of stuff." AJ thought about it. "Okay. I'll give it a shot." "Now what can I get ya?" The guys ordered their food and coffee's. Sarah walked back behind the counter and smiled at Michelle. "Well you know how you've been complaining about not having anyone?" Sarah asked. "Okay. Yeah. Sorry." Michelle said. "Well there's a cute, gorgeous man over there with tattoos that would love to go out with you." Sarah said pouring a guy some coffee who had just taken his seat. "Really?" Michelle asked. "You mean to tell me you don't recognize him?" Sarah asked. "Look at him closely." "Oh my god! No way!" she shrieked softly. "Yep. The one and only." Sarah said. "Holy shit." she said. "If you wanna take their food to them you can." Sarah said. "Okay." Michelle said. Sarah was glad to make someone happy in life. Around 9:30 a.m. the guys were heading out. "Remember tomorrow at six." Nick said. "I know." Sarah said. "See you tomorrow then." Nick leaned over and kissed her. "I love you." "I love you too." Sarah said not believing he and her just exchanged those words. "See you Sarah. Thanks for breakfast." Brian said. Sarah laughed. "Bye." The guys left and Michelle came back around the counter. Sarah looked at her. "So?" she asked. "We have a date tonight." Michelle said happily. "Thanks so much, Sarah." "Anytime." Sarah said. *FRIDAY EVENING* *SIX O'CLOCK* Sarah walked downstairs and stood there for her parents to admire her. "What do you think?" she asked. "You look beautiful." Linda said. "Gorgeous, my dear." Mitch said kissing his daughter's cheek. Linda heard a knock at the door and let Kevin in. He was decked out in a suit for their fake special evening. "We have to get some pictures." Linda said going to get the camera. "Mom we don't want to be late." Sarah said. "Oh it won't hurt to take a few, Sarah." Kevin said. Sarah glared at Kevin and he only smiled. Linda snapped a few shots of them together. "Now let's get one of you guys kissing." Linda said. Sarah pinched Kevin's side hard making him wince in pain. "Uh, we must be going or we'll lose our table." Kevin said. "Oh all right." Linda said. "You two have fun and see you later." Mitch said. "Don't wait up." Sarah said grabbing her bag that was sitting by the door. She hugged her parents and followed Kevin out the door. They got into the car and he headed towards Nick's. "Geez. That was close." Sarah said. "Thanks for the pinch." Kevin said. "Well you didn't want us kissing did you?" Sarah asked. "No. You're lucky we didn't get caught." Kevin said. "Me? Get caught?" Sarah said laughing. "So when do I get to meet Kristin?" "Well how about next Saturday when we have our annual cookout?" he asked. "Sounds like a plan." Sarah said. "I'm sure she's a great girl." "She is. The best ever that walked into my life." Kevin said. "I'm glad you have someone like that." Sarah said. "At least you don't have to go through friends to get to see the love of your life." "True." Kevin said pulling into Nick's driveway. "I will be back here tomorrow morning at five. Don't be late." "I won't." Sarah said leaning over and hugging Kevin. "Thanks so much for doing this." "No problem." Kevin said. Sarah got out of the car and ran to Nick's arms. She kissed him and followed him inside after Kevin left. She knew this was going to be the best night of her life.
