Chapter 10
Around midnight that night, Kevin and Kristin headed upstairs to bed leaving Nick and Sarah on the couch by themselves. They sat there a while just kissing and loving on each other.

"Why don't you come and stay at my place for a night?" Nick asked.
Sarah smiled. "Okay. Just for a night though. I can't have my parents being suspicious."
"Is this ever going to end with your parents?" Nick asked getting up.
"Eventually. I just can't tell them everything, Nick. You know that." she said.
"I'm sick of all the secrets. I mean come on, it split us up before." he said.
"Now wait a minute! You split us up! Not them!" she yelled. "It was your decision to stop seeing me!"
"Don't blame this on me!" Nick yelled back. "If it hadn't been for your parents making such a scene at the diner,  I wouldn't had to do what I had to do."
"Yeah. Put me through such agony for 4 months!" Sarah said angrily.
"Fine! If you want to back them up and stay with your miserable self, then do it! But I won't be around to see it!" Nick yelled angrily.
"Fine! Go fuck yourself then!" Sarah spat back.
Nick grabbed his jacket and left slamming the front door behind him. Sarah sat on the couch as Kristin came downstairs.
"What's going on?" she asked.
Sarah let the tears fall. "I drove the one thing that keeps me sane out of my life."
Kristin walked over to Sarah and comforted her as she saw Kevin come downstairs.
"What happened?" he asked.
"They had a fight." Kristin said.
Kevin walked out the front door to see Nick sitting on the porch swing.
"I thought you would've left by now." Kevin said.
"Yeah, well, I'm cooling off." Nick said.
"Sarah is in tears in there. Tell me what happened." Kevin said.
"We were just talking in general about telling her parents the truth and her staying with me a night, then it all got out of hand. She needs to tell her parents the truth or I'm going too." Nick said.
"Then why don't you tell her that." Kevin said. "Don't leave her life now when she needs you the most. She's pregnant with your child. Be there for her, Nick. Don't shut her out because she won't tell her parents the truth."
"I know." Nick said. "I just want acceptance with her family. That's all. I'll never have it now that she's pregnant."
Nick put his head in his hands. He wanted to give up. To just stop this whole mess with her parents. But he couldn't. He couldn't just give up on his unborn child. He looked up as the front door opened. He saw Sarah standing there.
"I'm sorry, Sarah." Nick said immediately. "I'm so sorry."
"Me too." Sarah said with tears falling down her cheeks.
Nick held her in a hug for a long time. Kristin and Kevin walked back into the house leaving them alone once again.
"I don't care about your parents anymore. I just wanna be there for you and our child." Nick said.
"I know you do." she said.
"Come on." Nick said walking her back inside. "Let's get some sleep and then I'll leave ya be."
"Nick don't leave. Stay with me." Sarah said holding onto his arm tightly.
"Okay. I won't leave." Nick said.
They walked into the house locking the doors behind them. They walked up to her room and closed the door. Sarah laid down sighing. Nick joined her holding her in his arms.
"Just sleep, my darling." Nick said.
Sarah closed her eyes laying her head on his chest. She listened to his heartbeat finally falling asleep.

The following morning around 6:30 A.M. Sarah got up seeing the sunrise through the window. She saw Nick asleep on his side of the bed. She sat down in the chair that was sitting by the window. She hummed softly to herself just watching the sun.

Nick stirred and went to reach for Sarah but didn't find her. He opened his eyes and saw her sitting by the window. He got up and walked over to her.
"Morning baby." Nick said.
Sarah stood up letting him sit down and then she took a seat on his lap.
"Morning." she said. "I was just watching the sun rise."
"I see that." Nick said. "How's the little guy?"
"Little guy? What about little girl?" Sarah asked.
"It's instincts dear." Nick said touching her stomach.
"If you say so. But this is going to be a girl. I can feel it." Sarah said.
"Okay. You wanna wager?" Nick asked.
"What do you wanna put on the line?" she asked.
"Well if they tell you it's a boy, then we tell your parents the truth. If it's a girl, then I'll buy or do anything you want." Nick said.
"Okay. Deal." Sarah said getting up. "I'm gonna go take a shower."
"Okay. I'm gonna go home and freshen up." he said.
Sarah pecked his lips with a kiss. "See you soon."
"You bet ya." he said heading out.

Sarah grabbed a change of clothes and headed for the bathroom. She showered and changed. Her clothes were getting tight. She needed to get some new clothes. She walked downstairs and saw Kristin in the kitchen making breakfast.

"Well I see you are cheery this morning." Kristin said.
"Yeah. We worked things out and he stayed with me last night, so I'm in a good mood." Sarah said. "I'm gonna schedule a doctor's appointment for next week."
"The phone is in the living room." Kristin said. "You wanna shop today?"
"Yeah. My clothes are kind of tight." Sarah said.
"Okay. We can take the guy's along with us." Kristin said. "And go out to lunch."
"Deal." Sarah said.
She walked into the living room grabbing the phone. She called the doctor's office and made an appointment. She walked back into the kitchen and took her seat.
"Just some toast for me, thanks." she said.
"That's all you want? Is that healthy?" Kristin asked.
"It's fine. Wait till you get pregnant one day." Sarah said.
Kristin laughed at the look Kevin made. She placed breakfast on the table and they started eating as Nick walked in.
"Good morning." Nick said taking a place at the table.
"Morning." Sarah said munching on some toast. "We're all heading to the mall to shop. Wanna come?"
"I can't. I have to be at the house when they deliver some stuff." Nick said.
"Deliver what exactly?" Sarah asked.
"Just some new furniture I bought for the house." he said.
"Okay. But I thought we would buy some stuff for the baby." she said.
"How about I meet up with you at eleven? Would that be okay?" he asked.
Sarah smiled. "Okay."
Nick and Sarah kissed and he went on his way. Sarah finished her toast then went to freshen up. She met Kristin and Kevin out at the car. The three of them got into the car and headed to the mall. Sarah was wondering all the while what Nick was up too.

*THE MALL*

"How about this, Sarah?" Kristin asked holding up some pants.
"Those are cute." Sarah said taking them. "They would go great with this blouse."
"Yeah it would." Kristin said. "Well you got some outfits. Why don't you go try them on?"
"Okay." Sarah said heading towards the changing room.
While Sarah was changing, Kevin noticed Mitch and Linda walk into the store.
"Kris go tell Sarah not to come out here." Kevin said.
"Why?" Kristin asked.
"That's why." Kevin said nodding towards her parents. "Now go."
Kristin immediately headed towards the dressing rooms.
"Sarah?" she said.
"In the third one." Sarah said.
"Kevin told me to tell you not to come out. Your parents are out there." Kristin said.
"Just great." Sarah said putting the top on. "Come in and tell me what you think."
Kristin opened the door and saw her. "Wow. You look great."
"You really think so? Because I don't see it." Sarah said.
"All pregnant women say that." Kristin said.
The girls laughed. Kristin helped her with her next outfit which was a dress. They were both wondering what was going on out in the store.

"Hey Mitch. Linda." Kevin said.
"Kevin? What are youdoing here?" Linda asked.
"Just shopping with a friend that is trying clothes on." he said. "So how's everything?"
"Everything is good. How's Sarah doing?" Mitch asked.
"She's doing good. She's back at home." Kevin lied.
"She feeling any better?" Linda asked.
"Yeah. She's got an appetite back." Kevin said. "I'll send her home in a while."
"Well I'm glad she's feeling better. I was beginning to wonder there for awhile." Linda said.
"So will there be any wedding bells in the air?" Mitch asked.
"I don't think so, Mitch. We're just very good friends. No wedding bells." Kevin said.
"Oh well." Mitch said. "We tried."
"I know you want your daughter married to a good man, but it will happen all in due time." Kevin said. "Just give her some time. Even if she chooses the wrong man in your eyes, it's the right in hers. Just be glad she's happy. Not very many people get that."
Linda and Mitch nodded thinking what they had done to make their daughter so miserable.
"Nice to see you again, Kevin. Have a good time shopping." Linda said.
"We...I mean I will." Kevin said.
Mitch and Linda left the store and headed home. He walked over to the dressing rooms.
"Okay. They're gone." Kevin said.
Kristin came out as did Sarah. She looked beautiful in her summer dress with yellow flowers all over.
"Wow! You look great." Kevin said.
"Thank you. So what did they want?" she asked.
"I think I finally got through to them to leave you alone and make your own choices." Kevin said.
"You really think so?" she asked.
"Yep." he said.
"Thanks so much, Kev. You're the greatest." she said hugging him.
"No problem." Kevin said. "Nick is going to love you in that."
Sarah smiled to herself. Yeah, he would.
